Dear Collins Intermediate Families,
Thank you all for your support with our Friends of Collins Fall PTO Fundraiser! Thanks to all of your generous donations, we were able to raise: $45,934.22!
We had so much fun celebrating our school, seeing teachers get pied by students, celebrating with glow activities, and we are looking forward to our upcoming celebrations where students will get to watch a movie with PTO and an assembly where they get to slime the staff!
Sincerely,
Chelsea Harness

Colossal Cobras
Congratulations to our September Colossal Cobra Award recipients! These students shine as role models of good character at Collins, consistently showing respect by treating others kindly, using good manners, accepting differences, and handling conflicts peacefully.
If you would like your student to receive Gifted and Talented learner services at school, please use this form to refer you student for testing in the spring.
Please remind your students to always keep their library books in their backpack when they are not reading them so the books are safe, protected and are coming to school every day. This ensures that when it is their library day, they have their books to either return, renew, and/or read. Thank you!
Bully Prevention Month
Get ready to stand up to bullying! October is Bully Prevention Month, and we're looking forward to celebrating kindness and empathy with our students. Throughout the month, we'll be doing some fun, small activities to help our students learn what it means to be an upstander and create a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.
In honor of Bully Prevention Month, we will also be celebrating Unity Day on Wednesday, October 22. We encourage students to wear orange on this day to show their support for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
Character Trait of the Month: Integrity
This October, our students will be focusing on the character trait of Integrity. Integrity is all about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. We'll be talking with students about what this looks like, including:
* Doing what you're supposed to do.
* Thinking before you act.
* Being accountable for your actions.
* Always doing your best.
We will close out our grading period with Pickleball and Handball games! We've had a great time exploring these activities. We completed our first Cobra Cardio and the students did a phenomenal job! We have a lot of swift runners! As always, please remember that students are always encouraged to bring their water bottle to PE.
In Mrs. Williams' class we have been learning about a variety of art movements and art mediums. We have been practicing various techniques and working on value scales in preparation for Rodeo Art. In Mr. Hunt’s art class, we are beginning our sculpture unit. Students are learning about the main types of sculpture, creating an orthographic drawing and beginning to create a wearable sculpture out of paper mache.

Clubs
Students, please check your emails to see if you were selected for a club. If you did not receive an email from a club sponsor, that means you are not in that club.
Parents, we kindly ask that you refrain from calling the school about club placements. This is a great opportunity for students to practice responsibility by remembering their club meeting dates and checking their emails or talking directly with sponsors to see if they are in a club.
Thank you for helping us encourage independence and responsibility!

Dismissal Reminders
Inclement Weather Dismissal
In the event of severe weather, please check your email or text for updates on whether we will have an Inclement Weather (Rainy Day) Dismissal.
If extreme weather (wind, hail, lightning, extreme rain) is expected around dismissal (4:05 PM), we recommend that students get picked up in the Car Rider Line. Biking and walking students will only be released directly to a parent with the student's car rider sign or ID number.
Car Rider:
- Every parent should have a car rider sign visible in the car line.
- If you are picking up additional students, please write each student’s ID number clearly and in large print on a sheet of paper.
- Missing car rider signs or ID numbers slows down the process for everyone.
Biker/Walker:
- Parents using this option should line up at the 5th grade bike rack.
- A car rider sign or ID number is also required.
Calling the Front Office:
- We will do our best to notify families by 3:35 PM if an Inclement Weather Dismissal will be used.
- Please have a "Plan B" established with your child so they will know how they are getting home.
- You do not need to call the front office unless it is a change from your pre-established "Plan B."
