The Principal's Paw Print
Fugett Families,
The excitement is building at FMS! We are just a few short weeks away from welcoming our Cougars back into the building, and our team has been hard at work preparing classrooms, strengthening our systems, and getting ready to make SY27 Our Best Year Yet! πΎπ
We are especially excited to connect with many of you at our upcoming Family Town Hall on Wednesday, August 19. This will be an opportunity to hear more about our vision and priorities for the year, learn about important updates and expectations, ask questions, and continue strengthening the partnership between our school and families. Whether you are returning to Fugett or joining our community for the first time, we look forward to connecting with you!
βΎ Cougars Making Us Proud!
We also continue to celebrate our Fugett students competing in the Little League Regional Tournament! What an incredible accomplishment to represent their team, community, and Pennsylvania on such a big stage. The entire Fugett community is cheering them on and hoping their incredible journey continues all the way to the Little League World Series! πβΎπ
There is so much to celebrate and even more to look forward to. Enjoy these final weeks of summer, and get ready, Cougars. One Pack. One Purpose. One Fugett.
See you soon, Cougars! πΎπ

π FMS Celebrations: J. R. Fugett Award Recipients! π
We are excited to recognize additional J. R. Fugett Award recipients from our rising 9th grade class! This special honor celebrates students who earned all Aβs, 90% or above, during every marking period throughout all three years of middle school! π
After missing these outstanding Cougars during our June recognition, we were thrilled to welcome them and their families back to FMS for a special celebration complete with cake, ice cream, and, most importantly, lots of Cougar cheers for a job well done! ππ¦πΎ
Congratulations! We are incredibly proud of you and cannot wait to see you continue to shine at EHS! ππ
π Our New Student & Family Guidebook
We are excited to share a working version of our new FMS Student & Family Guidebook for SY27! This guidebook is designed to be a go to resource for families throughout the school year.
Inside, you will find important information about morning arrival procedures, daily modes of operation, student expectations, schoolwide procedures, supports, resources, and much more to help every student start the year successfully and confidently.
We encourage all families to review the guidebook together with your student and bring your questions, feedback, and ideas to our upcoming Family Town Halls with Principal Lewis.
Your partnership is essential to our success. Together, we can ensure our students are ready from Day One and make SY27 our Best Year Yet at FMS! πΎπ
Student Schedule Update π
If you have not yet seen, student schedules are now available in PowerSchool, with the exception of homeroom assignments.
We will finalize homeroom assignments during the week of August 24 to allow for teacher input and collaboration. This intentional process will help us create balanced homerooms that support student success while considering exceptionalities and additional student needs.
We encourage you to review your childβs schedule together. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Master Scheduler, Assistant Principal Jen Gallagher, at jgallagher@wcasd.net.
Please be sure to check your childβs schedule again before the first day of school on August 31, as adjustments may occur as we finalize schedules.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to ensure a strong start to the school year!
Meet Our New Teachers
Mrs. Lauren Goebel, 6th Grade Science Teacher
Her words to us: My name is Lauren Goebel, and I am excited to be joining Fugett Middle School as a 6th grade Science teacher this year. For the past seven years, I have taught 8th grade Science at Peirce Middle School, and I am looking forward to this new opportunity to work with and inspire sixth-grade students as they explore the wonders of science. I am passionate about helping students grow academically, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Outside of school, I coach both the boys' and girls' tennis teams at West Chester East High School. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband and our two dogs. I also love playing tennis and pickleball, as well as hiking and exploring nature. This year is especially exciting for my family, as we are looking forward to welcoming a baby boy.
I am thrilled to become part of the Fugett community and look forward to getting to know my students and their families. I can't wait for a fantastic school year filled with learning, discovery, and growth!

π²WCASD Activity Fee Reminderπ²
The West Chester Area School District has a tradition of offering high-quality extra-curricular programs for students. To support the costs of these programs, an Activity Fee is applied to extra-curricular programs supervised by a contracted coach, advisor, or director. This yearly fee allows a student to participate in one or multiple funded activities, and the maximum amount a family may pay per year is $250.
The 2026 - 2027 cost per student* for WCASD Middle Schools is $87.00.
*Family Fee Cap is $250 maximum.
Our district is committed to ensuring that no student is denied participation in an extra-curricular because of cost concerns. Families experiencing financial hardship can find information regarding financial help on our website or through your school caseworker.
Once your student is rostered to participate in a funded sport or activity, please pay the activity fee by using the online payment method, PaySchools Central. Other payment information is located on our Activity Fee Website.
If you have questions, please visit our, email activityfee@wcasd.net or contact your schoolβs athletic department, coach, or advisor. As always, thank you for your continued support of our districtβs schools and programs.
