Fine ArtsWeekly UpdateWeek of 4/6-4/10

Band 7- Ms. Tokos

This week in 7th grade band, students were expected to practice their instrument each day. Their goal was to submit at least one check-off either through Smartmusic or by making a video. They also had a rhythm assignment. They could either clap or play the assigned rhythms in Smartmusic or Soundtrap. As we move forward, students should continue to check in to Google Classroom each day for a suggested Practice Agenda. They should try and submit one check-off per week until all six 4th Quarter check-offs are complete. I will also have one additional assignment per week. Next week, it will be a listening assignment. If students or parents have any questions, the best way to contact me is through email at tokos.emily@wgcloud.org.

Band 8- Mr. Stevison

This week in 8th Grade Band, students were expected to practice their instrument. Each day in google classroom, there is a suggested practice assignment including warm-ups and a “mystery” tune. Families are encouraged to help figure out the “mystery” tunes. This week we also had our first graded assignment. Students either had to submit a checkoff or create a ringtone using the Soundtrap studio.

Next week, students should continue practicing their instruments daily. Practicing does not have to be done in one sitting. Students should still check in on google classroom each day. They also have the option to attend the Zoom band classes if they need some help with anything. If students or parents have any questions, the best way to contact me is through email at stevison.joe@wgcloud.org.

Choir 7/8- Mrs. Gado

This week, we finished up the Intervals/Note Names that we mostly had done before break. Since 95% of the learning happened in 3rd term, I will happily enter any 90-100 scores to raise your 3rd term grades. Students will continue with a choice grid, and journal how they are creating, performing, and responding to music in the most enjoyable way. Masked singer Round 1 was a success--the worst part is having to cut good singers. Please keep singing and don’t let one competition keep you from loving music, Next week, there will be a new grid with opportunities to supplement your third term grade-some singing, some theory, some song writing. Performance Products are still due at the end of the week. Zooms have been a fun get together. This coming week, we will use Zoom time to play Kahoots designed to help in HEARING intervals. (All Kahoots are posted for those who can’t attend) It’s helpful if you can play along on a phone, but not necessary, and we even had kids just play along without being logged in to Kahoot. Those minutes count toward your journal. Keep singing. Keep dancing. Keep Creating. I miss you terribly! Hope to see you at the Zooms.

Orchestra 7/8- Mrs. Grubb

Hello everyone! On Monday, we will be having an important Zoom Meeting for each class during your scheduled zoom class meeting time, so please log on if you are able. We will be discussing changes going forward with assignment expectations, a new grading system, zoom meetings going forward, and feedback on how everything is going so far. Please make sure you check Google Classroom everyday for any missing assignments and complete them as soon as you can. Also, please continue to practice your instruments as much as possible (even if it is not assigned) to keep up your skills. Remember, if you need help with any assignments or tuning, please reach out. Have a wonderful weekend, and see you Monday on Zoom!

Drama 1- Mr. Conners

Hello actors! Hope each of you are keeping safe and healthy. This week during our Zoom class meeting we did our usual check in with one another. Afterwards, I was able to address questions, concerns or issue with our current assignment. All students shared updates regarding their scriptwriting process and some students submitted scripts for teacher feedback. As a reminder we revised our our Zoom meetings to Mondays and Wednesdays only and a designated zoom time will be posted the night before in google classroom. Student will continue to write their Fairytale scripts in proper scriptwriting format and share them for teacher feeback.
