2024-25 FAFSA UPDATES 2024-25 FAFSA UPDATES

NEWEST UPDATES:

The FSA announced it will begin processing applications this month and students should start receiving their FAFSA Submission Summary (formerly known as Student Aid Report) as applications are being processed. Once received, students can log on to make any corrections or submit missing signatures.

In addition, the FSA announced that students whose contributors don't have SSN's can now successfully complete and submit the FAFSA. While this issue should be resolved for most, they did leave room for the possibility that some may still encounter troubles, and are actively working on finding solutions. If a student has already started their FAFSA without their contributors, they can now invite them to complete their portion of the application. For more information, check out the announcement here.

Both the FAFSA and Minnesota Dream Act Application are open. The filing deadline for both is June 30th. Students should complete the FAFSA or Minnesota Dream Act as soon as possible. Use these tips to successfully complete your FAFSA form.

ACCUPLACER TEST ACCUPLACER TEST

Some colleges require freshmen students to take the ACCUPLACER if they scored lower than a 21 on the reading part of the ACT, scored lower than an 18 on the English part of the ACT, scored lower than a 22 on the Math part of the ACT, or did not take the ACT at all.

It is beneficial to score high enough to be placed in college English and college math and avoid taking a developmental class to prepare you for college level courses. If you are assigned a developmental English or math class in college you have to pay the same as any other credit, but this credit does not go toward your diploma or degree.

There is a free web-based practice app for the Accuplacer with sample questions in each subject. Students can use this tool to explore the format and content of the tests, and get immediate explanations for both correct and incorrect answers. Go to the College Board website to download the app.
