“We are a supportive, inclusive school community where kindness and integrity foster a strong sense of belonging, empowering every learner to achieve their personal best.”

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to another fabulous fortnight at EHPS, we have a lot to share and celebrate.

Stage 3 Grip Leadership

Last Monday, all our Stage 3 students had the incredible opportunity to participate in the GRIP Leadership conference. This powerful experience ignited their social-emotional growth, strengthened their leadership skills, and empowered them to confidently raise their voices to drive meaningful and lasting change within our school community.

Multicultural Public Speaking Awards

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of serving as a judge for the Stage 2 and 3 Multicultural Public Speaking Competition alongside Ms. Clarke. It was a truly inspiring event that showcased the talents and insights of our young students. All participants spoke with remarkable confidence and clarity. They projected their voices effectively, ensuring their messages were heard loud and clear. The speeches were not only innovative but also deeply engaging, capturing the attention of everyone present. Each student delivered powerful messages emphasizing the importance of inclusivity, acceptance, and celebrating our differences. They highlighted kindness and the critical message that discrimination has no place in our school or the world.

Student-Led Conferences Information Session

Thank you to everyone who replied to the Expression of Interest for next week’s parent information on our Student-Led Conferences. This will be held in the staffroom and start at 4pm. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. I’m looking forward to working with you then!

NSW Public Schools Parent Survey – We Need Your Voice!

In Term 2, we are inviting parents and carers to participate in the NSW Public Schools Parent Survey. The survey gives you the opportunity to share your experience at our school, including communication, inclusion, wellbeing and how your child’s learning is supported.

Hearing directly from our parents and carers will help us understand what’s working well and where improvements can be made. Participation in the survey is optional, your responses are anonymous, and it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete. You can access at the survey at https://surveyme.education.nsw.gov.au/sc/URtAbmgBZGhmZFLLTy7ivQ2

Wishing everyone another safe, happy and warm fortnight!

Kind regards,

Ms Renee Ross

What's Happening in KH and KD What's Happening in KH and KD

In Kinder, students have been working hard on writing sentences and had fun creating their own books inspired by our focus texts "This is a Ball" by Beck and Matt Stanton and "The Book with No Pictures" by B.J. Novak. These silly books featured text that didn’t always match the pictures and included playful nonsense words and sentences. The students showed great enthusiasm in inventing their own silly sentences and creative words.

In Maths, we have been exploring friends of 10 and are becoming more confident in writing our numbers correctly. We have also been using hefting to learn about the mass of objects, practising vocabulary such as equivalent, lighter and heavier. Students have started to learn about data and chance by collecting and organising data into simple tables.

In Phonics lessons, we have been learning lots of new sounds and high frequency words. Students are enjoying learning to read and are making fantastic progress.

Our PDHPE lessons have focused on developing and refining our fundamental movement skills, including running, skipping, side galloping, and hopping.

During our Resilience Project lessons, we have been discussing emotions and how our bodies give us signals to recognise how we feel. We have also been learning about empathy and ways we can show kindness and understanding towards others.

A big thank you to our parent helpers who have generously given up their time to support students with their reading.

Kinder students are demonstrating wonderful creativity and growth across all areas of learning.

🐔 Coop Scoop – Issue #23 🐔 🐔 Coop Scoop – Issue #23 🐔

Bugs, Bugs and More Bugs!

In Science at the moment, it’s all about beneficial bugs! 🐞🪲

We have Illiana from 1/2S and her dad, Steve, helping us set up an exciting new mealworm farm. These mealworms will become a fantastic high-protein snack for our chickens and may even produce enough for us to sell some to families with chickens or reptiles in the future. Illiana has already been hard at work creating a marketing campaign and designing labels for when we are ready to sell our extra mealworms at the Farmers Market.

Students have been fascinated to learn about the mealworm lifecycle, holding beetles, and carefully searching for teeny tiny baby mealworms. It has certainly brought lots of curiosity, excitement, and hands-on learning into our Science lessons.

The second bug to make its debut at EHPS is the Black Soldier Fly larvae. These incredible little creatures are absolute powerhouses when it comes to breaking down food waste—even faster than worms! Like worms, they also produce excellent liquid fertiliser for our gardens and make a nutritious snack for our chickens. Craig has been busy helping build our Black Soldier Fly farm, and the larvae are already settling happily into their new home.

A huge thank you to Steve, Illiana, and Craig for supporting my crazy ideas and projects. I promise there is definitely a method to the madness of bugs!

Stage 3 students are currently investigating the waste we throw away each day and exploring ways we can reduce the amount heading to landfill. They are also learning about degradation and decomposition. Black Soldier Flies may become one important way we can process larger quantities of food waste across the school while also benefiting our chickens at the same time.

Did you know…?

You can actually eat mealworms! Would you give one a try?

Zone Cross Country Zone Cross Country

On Friday, our Zone Cross Country representatives travelled to compete in challenging conditions, with steady rain and a very soggy track making for a tough day of racing. Despite the weather, our students represented the school with pride, determination and outstanding sportsmanship.

We were incredibly proud to see so many of our students achieve top 20 placings across the day, a fantastic reflection of their hard work, resilience and preparation. Whether they were striving for a personal best, encouraging teammates or tackling the muddy course with a smile, every student demonstrated our school values and should be commended for their efforts.

A special congratulations goes to Jack P and Archie S, who both achieved outstanding results and have now qualified to represent our zone at the Sydney North Cross-Country Championships. We wish them the very best as they continue their cross-country journey.

Thank you to our families who braved the wet weather to support and cheer on our runners throughout the day. Your encouragement and enthusiasm helped make the event a memorable experience for all involved.
