Principal's Message
"October is a symphony of permanence and change." — Bonaro W. Overstreet
Dear Hogg Community,
I hope the Fall Break has offered all of you the chance to relish the splendid weather while making cherished memories with your dear ones.
As we embark on the third week of October, it's clear that the holiday season is fast approaching. We eagerly anticipate weaving together enriching learning opportunities with the festive spirit of the season.
Please keep in mind that attendance is crucial. While we recognize that absences may be unavoidable on occasion, it's important to understand that unexcused absences cannot replicate the valuable learning experiences that take place on those days.
Warm regards,
Ms. Molina

Principal for a Day-Tuesday, October 17, 2023
Jimmy J. Tran is a small business owner and entrepreneur. He currently owns Code Ninjas which teaches kids 4-14 computer coding skills. In addition, he is also the Managing Principal of Oak Lawn Group LLC, a real estate investing firm.
Jimmy and his wife Lisa met at SMU, where they were undergrads. After SMU, Jimmy moved to Boston where we completed graduate studies at Harvard. Together, they have 3 kids (all enrolled in DISD) and they have been involved in our District in numerous ways, from Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Committee to Dad’s Club to volunteering as a coach for Destination Imagination.
In 2019, Jimmy started a nonprofit foundation to support his kids' school called Friends of PL Prep. Last, Jimmy was appointed to the Facilities Sub-Committee for the 2020 Bond, which will bring $3.5 billion dollars to 220+ campuses throughout DISD.
Fall Parent Conferences
We will be having parent-teacher conferences the week of October 23rd. Teachers will be sending their parents more information regarding when they are available. The district is doing parent-teacher conferences a bit differently this year; teachers must provide multiple times on multiple days they are available to have parent conferences. They can use their planning time, before school, and after school. We will not be holding parent-teacher conferences on Friday, October 27th. Teachers will send out their schedules to you the week of October 16th-20th.
October Attendance Incentive
Our learners who maintained perfect attendance for the week had a delightful popsicle treat! Our next attendance challenge is on the horizon, spanning from Monday, October 9th to Friday, October 27th. Students who achieve perfect attendance during these three weeks will be invited to our exciting Razorback Popcorn Celebration.
October Razorbacks of the Month
