6/12/2026 - Principal's Message

Happy Final Friday for the school year, BMS Community!

We have had an absolutely awesome last few weeks of school here at BMS! Yesterday, we wrapped up the year with a fun-filled last day of school, featuring an incredible school assembly, field day, an exciting OMSI demonstration, and plenty of yearbook signing. It was the perfect way to celebrate all of our students' hard work.

Here are a few highlights and important updates as we head into the summer:

6th Grade World Expo

Last week, our 6th graders successfully presented their World Expo research projects. It was wonderful to see our students dive so deeply into researching and learning all about different countries and cultures. They did a fantastic job sharing their knowledge with the community!

Welcoming a New Teacher to BMS

We are excited to welcome a new ELA teacher to the BMS community this coming fall. Ms. Whitney Lenet will be joining our team! Ms. Lenet comes to us with a wealth of experience, having previously taught in Hillsboro and, prior to that, in California. Please join us in giving Whitney a warm welcome to our staff!

Happy Retirement!

Finally, we are honored to recognize two of our wonderful teachers who are retiring after years of dedicated service to the world of education. Diane Vuylsteke and Laura Kolodziejczak are both entering retirement and are looking forward to their next great adventures. Please join us in thanking Diane and Laura for their incredible impact on our students and wishing them both the absolute best!

Next Year PTO

Our First PTO meeting of next year is scheduled for August 4th from 5-6 pm in the BMS library! We would love to invite parents to come check out our PTO and/or consider joining the group. We would also love to have some incoming 6th grade families join!

Thank you all for a wonderful school year. Wishing you all a safe, happy, and relaxing summer, and we look forward to another great year together in 2026-27!

Best wishes,

Caitlin Everett

Summer EBT Program

Summer Grocery Help is Back!

Healthy eating throughout the summer helps students grow strong and do well in school. That’s why we’re happy to share that the Oregon Summer EBT program is back for summer 2026!

This program gives families money to help buy groceries when school is out. Each eligible student can get $120 for food over the summer.

Who can get this help? Your child may automatically qualify if:

  • Your family gets SNAP, TANF, or Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) and meets income rules.

  • Your child gets free or reduced-price school meals and meets income rules.

  • Your child is in foster care, part of a migrant education program, homeless, in a qualified Head Start, or part of the Food Program on Indian Reservations.

Your child may be eligible by application if:

  • Your family meets the income requirements for free or reduced-price meals at school

  • Your child attends a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP).

What else should you know?

  • If you got Summer EBT in 2025 through an approved application, you don’t need to apply again. Your family will get the benefits on June 5, 2026.

  • If you’re new to the program, you must apply by Sept. 1, 2026.

  • You’ll get the money on an Oregon EBT card, which you can use at most grocery stores, farmers markets, and other places that accept EBT.

  • Need help or want to apply? Visit sebt.oregon.gov or email summerebtinfo@odhs.oregon.gov.

  • Starting June 1, 2026, you can also call the Oregon Summer EBT Call Center at 1-833-673- 7328, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time.
