MASC Regional Connect Conference
This past Tuesday, a group of Wayland High School Student Council members attended the MASC Regional Connect Conference at Craig’s Cruisers. Students participated in leadership development sessions and collaborated with peers from other schools, bringing back fresh ideas to continue building a positive school culture at Wayland High School.
During the conference, Raegan Cardosa, Logan Hall, and Macy Schwartz competed in the Regional Showcase competition, delivering a 45-minute presentation highlighting our Family. Friends. and Heroes. event from this past fall. Their presentation was selected as one of just three to advance to the MASC State Leadership Conference later this month.
Please join us in congratulating these students on their hard work, leadership, and outstanding achievement!
Fright Night Cursed Crypts
During the first trimester, students from Mrs. Musk's creative writing class were challenged to write 100 word short stories for a writing contest called Fright Night Cursed Crypts. Several students in the class were chosen to be published in a book along with other entries from around the United States. The published books arrived earlier this week and Wayland Union Middle School received a complimentary copy as well!

High School Students Experience “Outdoors and Unplugged” Learning
On Tuesday, February 3rd, a group of our high school students had the opportunity to visit the Ebersole Center to participate in a winter survival experience connected to their English Language Arts coursework.
This field experience was part of Outdoors and Unplugged, an ELA class taught by Mr. Bakker that centers on literature highlighting the benefits of spending time outdoors, reducing screen time, and building meaningful connections through shared experiences. Students read and respond to texts that emphasize the value of community and personal growth through outdoor pursuits.
During their visit, the Ebersole Center staff thoughtfully blended hands-on activities, such as snowshoeing, archery, and fire-building, with the literature students explored in class, creating a meaningful real-world application of classroom learning.
This enriching experience was made possible through a generous donation from the Wayland Union Educational Foundation. We are grateful for the continued support that allows our students to learn beyond the classroom walls, and judging by student feedback, they’re already asking when they can return!

Dancing with the Star Staff
On Thursday, February 5th, the WUHS Dance Theatre program proudly hosted its second annual Dancing with the Star Staff fundraiser. This special event pairs students with Wayland Union Schools staff members, who learn and perform a dance routine together. Community members then show their support by voting for their favorite performances through donations.
This year, Kelli VanderGeld earned the mirror ball trophy, with Darrin Door finishing in second place. We commend all participating staff members for stepping out of their comfort zones and joining students on stage. The evening was filled with fun, school spirit, and strong community support, making it another successful and memorable event for our Dance Theatre program.
Steeby Gym Fundraiser
We are thrilled to share that Steeby Elementary was able to raise $10,600 for new P.E. equipment. The top 6 classes get to participate in an Inflatable Teacher Race and several classes enjoyed a sweet treat for being a top donation earner. Congratulations to all Steeby students for a job well done!
