Bell Schedule this week: BCD** Bell Schedule this week: BCD**

This upcoming week is a short one for students. We will not have "A" days this week - Monday is a B day, Tuesday is a C day, and Wednesday is a D day with an extra Home Room at the end of the day.

During this extended homeroom time, students should plan on finishing up projects, completing missing work, retaking tests, etc. It is the last day of the Quarter, and grades will be finalized so that report cards can be sent home.

Quarter One - almost done! Quarter One - almost done!

Crazy, right?!? The year is already a quarter of the way over - the last day of the quarter is this Wednesday, October 28th.

Some students will have minor changes to their schedules starting on Monday, November 2nd, when quarter 2 elective classes start.

We clean out our Lost and Found at the end of every quarter. We have been asking students to please check the lost and found for their belongings every day in morning announcements for the last two weeks. I happened to be standing near the lost and found shelves the other day when a 6th grade boy found his very nice puffer jacket/coat. "Look, Mrs. Summers!" he exclaimed, "it's my coat! My mom is going to be so happy!" πŸ™‚ If you have noticed hoodies, jackets, coats, water bottles, and/or tupperware containers have gone missing, you too can encourage your student to check our lost and found. You are also welcome to stop by the school and go through it yourself. Please just check in at our office first. I'll try to get a video posted to Facebook featuring our Lost & Found items...sometimes parents spot things that the kids walk past numerous times a day. πŸ™ƒAt the end of the week, our staff will load it all up and donate it to The Hope Center/Goodwill/etc.

Expect to get a Quarter 1 report card in the mail toward the end of the first week of November.

Birthday Cake Kits Birthday Cake Kits

First of all, the kids and teachers here at MMS are pretty great...they genuinely care about others and ask for opportunities to serve our community. They have come to me with an idea for a fun school-wide project for Thanksgiving.

Our Student Council, Community Connections class, Journalism class, and Community Schools Coordinator are organizing an event that will be both a fun competition between home rooms, and a service project. We will be collecting items for Birthday Cake Kits that we will donate to our local food banks.

We don't have all the details ironed out just yet, but I wanted you all to be aware that it is going to be a thing. I know we are headed into a very busy time of year! I wanted you to know that your Cub will probably be asking you to pick up some of these items to donate and help their home room class win bragging rights.

Check out the video below. 😁

Fall Concert Fall Concert

Our Fall Concert for Orchestra, Band, and Choir was Thursday night and I'm so proud of all our amazing musical Cubs. They did a great job. Kudos to Ms. Yenne for all her hard work with these young musicians. I should have taken pictures!! The students looked very professional...their "fit" was "peak." You will just have to take my word for it...I'll make sure to take some next time. 😁

Award Winning MMS staff Award Winning MMS staff

I am so lucky to get to work with some incredible people, and our community is lucky to have highly skilled, talented, and experienced professional educators working with our kids. Two of our staff members were recently recognized for their outstanding work here at MMS.

Paige Mangini was selected from nominees from across the state as a Vandal Outstanding Educator for 2026. She will be presented her award in an upcoming Vandal home football game.

Melissa Godfrey has done a LOT for our school and students in the short amount of time that she has served as our Community Schools Coordinator, and most of it happens behind the scenes. There are 65 Community Schools across the state of Idaho, and Melissa's work has stood out. She was named the Community School Coordinator of the Year for the state of Idaho. She will be receiving her award at un upcoming conference in Sun Valley.

We are proud of both of these outstanding MMS staff members and grateful for their dedication to our students and community. Go Cubs!

Halloween Halloween

We don't have any Halloween events planned here at the middle school...we usually don't. The calendar being what it is this year made that even less likely than usual. Please don't send students to school in costumes, face paint, masks, etc. this week. Halloween/Fall themed attire is o.k. - I have my own collection of pumpkin themed outfits - but no costumes, please. Also, violent images are not allowed, per our dress code, so please don't let kids wear clothing with images of guns, knives, blood, and/or guts to school. I'll ask them to change into something else. I don't mean to be a Halloween Grinch...I've been called one before...but sometimes kids don't know where that line between appropriate for school and not appropriate for school is, and some students are genuinely disturbed by scary or frightening images. Halloween can be a lot of fun and I hope our Cubs enjoy all the festivities happening at home and in the community.

Homework Club November Sign-up Homework Club November Sign-up

Don't forget that we have a great space for kids to do their Homework here at MMS after school Monday - Thursday. Parents need to sign their student up, and we do the rest. There is even a bus that will bring them home.

Spiders Spiders

Did you know that we have a spider celebrity here in Moscow? We do - the Hexura Vandal spider! Our students will have the opportunity to learn more about this spider and help make it the Idaho state spider. This will be happening on November 6th during Home Room. Students will need to sign up to take part in this event with their science teachers.
