Hello Middle School East Families,
We’ve officially wrapped up our first full week of the school year, and what a fantastic week it has been! Our students have been working hard and showing great enthusiasm in the classroom. Below, you’ll find a few snapshots from some fun math activities and our guest speaker, Elec Simon, who brought incredible energy and positivity! Both students and staff had a blast!
As we continue to settle into our routines, we’re looking forward to the weeks ahead. Next week, students will begin their MAP assessments. Thank you for your continued support, and enjoy the weekend!
Take care,
Megan Kirsten

All Student Updates:
6th Grade Updates:
Students are adjusting well to middle school! We have been enjoying getting to know them. We were also thrilled to see so many of you at Open House/Curriculum night.
Mrs. Kirsten and Ms. Hilbert led a grade level meeting this week to go over grade-level expectations. We also discussed our book signature policy if expectations are not met. This will start next week. No gum!
Please be sure your child returns their adventure day packet with permission slips as well as pays their fee on Infinite Campus.
Yellow take-home folders will be used for items coming to and from school.
Please see these slides for information on House, WIN, and important links to “one stop stops” of the 6th grade launchpad and Student Hub.
ACE 7/8 students are starting to study tile patterns and how the patterns can be used to predict the 100th figure in the pattern.
7th Grade Updates:
Please help your student remember to charge their Chromebook each night. It is important they come to class with it charged and ready to go. It is a 7th grade expectation and helps classes run smoothly!
ELA: Students have started reading Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie this week. Ask them about what they are reading!
ACE 7/8 students are starting to study tile patterns and how the patterns can be used to predict the 100th figure in the pattern.

Any questions, please contact Mr. Merrick at merrickd@gjps.org
Drop off/Pick-up procedures
It is important that families follow the drop-off and pick-up procedures to ensure the safety of ALL students. Please keep out of the parking lot in front of the school building. Students are running in front of buses, which is not safe. Please enter and exit school property from Clotts Rd.
You must enter from Clotts Rd.
Use the entire loop as shown.
Pull up tight to the person in front of you in our pick up line.
These things will help keep all of the cars off of Clotts Road and allow for our buses to enter the lot.
If you would like to park in the basketball lot and wait for your student, that also works, but make sure the outer loop is free from parked cars.
After your student is loaded, exit via Clotts Road.
Lastly, BE CAREFUL! There are a lot of students and cars in the lot!

PTA Update
Community Connection!
We’re always looking for ways to connect classroom learning to the real world or allow students to explore the future—and we’d love your help! If you're open to sharing your job title and a brief description of what you do, we’d love to learn more. We’re gathering a list of parents and guardians who might be interested in speaking to students about their careers, allowing students to shadow for a day, or participating in a future career fair.
If this sounds like something you'd consider, please take a moment to fill out this quick google form. Thank you for helping our students dream big!
