On December 1st we held a Lockdown Drill. Teachers explained that we practice a lockdown so students know how to shelter in place in case of an emergency. Our counselors were and are ready to support any students who may need it.

EL MARINO GREEN AMBASSADORS PROGRAM

Environmental leadership program coordinated by the Green Committee
Students from 1st-5th grade will meet monthly to learn about environmental issues
Two students from each classroom are being selected as ambassadors
Green Ambassadors will share their environmental knowledge with their classmates after the lessons
First lesson on December 13th will focus on recycling and will include an arts and crafts component
We are looking for cleared volunteers to help us teach the lessons. All materials will be provided and the Green Committee co-chairs will be leading the lessons.

THE EL MARINO GARDEN NEWS

The El Marino Garden had its 2nd harvest of the year on December 1st. Five classes joined our amazing volunteers that day. Each class had a lesson, picked vegetables and feasted (most kids even had seconds). We harvested, carrots, radishes, fennel, sugar snap peas, kale, bok choi and edible flowers. They loved the lemon vinaigrette and almost everyone said that they ate something that day that they had never eaten before.
