Dear parents, carers, staff and friends,
Term Dates 2025-2026
Below are the dates for the 2025-2026 school year. Please keep a note of these dates and try to ensure that any holidays you are booking are booked outside of school time.
We return to school after the summer holidays on Thursday, 28th August 2025.
Mansion House Visit
We were very proud to be invited to the Mansion House to meet Dublin's Lord Mayor, Emma Blain, last week. We have been working in partnership with Bohemians Football Club for a couple of years now and they were launching a report of their work in the community. Rosalia, one of our teachers, and a group of children, were invited to speak about their experiences of some of their school and community-based projects. They were wonderful ambassadors for our school and received lots of positive feedback from the invited guests. Congratulations!
Santry Athletics
Congratulations to our Athletics Team who took part in the annual Athletics Competition in Morton Stadium, Santry this week. These competitions showcase the very best athletics talents in schools across Dublin and our team did us proud. A particular well done to Andiswa, who came 3rd in the shot-put event. Winning any medal at this level is a great achievement! Thank you to James and Aoife K who supported the children on the day.
News this week
Bridewell Garda Station - Open Day
Molly and Neasa's Classes were invited to Bridewell Garda Station this week to learn about the work of our Community Gardaí. They saw inside the station, they met some of the animals who help the Gardaí with their work and they got to try out some of the vehicles too. Lots of excitement. Thank you to Vicki, our link Garda for the invitation.
International Literature Festival Dublin
Andy's 4th Class went to Merrion Square to the International Literature Festival. They met author Aoife Dooley and had a workshop based around her most recent work, 'Squid Squad', a series of graphic novels. The children got really creative - drawing themselves as fish!
Dublin Zoo
Alannah and Molly's Classes visited Dublin Zoo for a visit to the 'African Plains' and a workshop linked to their learning this term about Africa and animals around the world.
Newgrange Farm
Our two Junior Infant classes had a wonderful time at Newgrange Farm on Tuesday. The children were able to hold baby chicks, fe
Guide Dog Day
Thank you to parent Nadine, her son Adam and guide dog Pilot, for joining our Diversity and Inclusion team for a special assembly for 'Guide Dog Day' on Friday. Nadine and Adam told the children all about Pilot and his very important job. One of our teachers, Molly, also spoke about her family's experience training guide dogs. The children had lots of excellent questions and we look forward to inviting Nadine and Pilot back again soon!
Remember if you see Nadine and Pilot around school - Pilot is very busy at work and it is important that we give him space to do his job and not distract him.
Attendance at school
Our aim is for every child to have attendance of 95%+.
We have had some excellent attendance across the school last week - let's try really hard to keep that up over the next few weeks.
Well done to all of the classes who are meeting - and exceeding our 95% target:
Greg's 3rd Class - 98.8%
Claire M's Junior Infants - 97.1%
Sean's 4th Class - 96.7%
Lorna's Class - 96.7%
