PAYING FOR POST SECONDARY INSTITUTION:
Seniors and Parents: If you have not already completed the application for FAFSA, please do this ASAP! The distribution of money is on a first come/first serve basis; thus, it is quite important to complete (even if your senior is still unsure if attending a postsecondary institute). Please go to https://studentaid.gov/ and click on “Start a New FAFSA.” Make sure that you select the 2026-2027 year. If you need assistance, Career Center Counselor, Kaymee Kelly (KKelly@lhusd.org), can assist along with your student’s alpha assigned counselor.
File your FAFSA before the priority filing date to maximize the amount of financial aid (specifically limited grant funding) you receive:
⮚ January 15, 2026: Arizona State University (ASU)
⮚ April 1, 2026: Arizona Promise Program
⮚ April 1, 2026: Northern Arizona University (NAU)
⮚ April 1, 2026: University of Arizona (UofA)
SPEAKING OF POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION….THIS IS FOR EVERYONE!
Major Clarity tip: Postsecondary Exploration is a wonderful opportunity to research postsecondary schools (two year and four year) across the nation. ⮚ Login into Major Clarity (https://app.paper.co/majorclarity/). Student login is the same as their Havasuonline e-mail account. You must click “Continue with google” to sign in.
⮚ Once logged on, go to Postsecondary Exploration (tab), and begin your search.
⮚ Be sure to add filters to narrow down results, such as type of institution or program, state, maximum tuition, athletics programs and more.
COURSE PRE-REGISTRATION 2026-2027
In February, students will meet with their counselors to select classes for the 2026-2027 school year. The current Course Description Guide (CDG) is available online at https://lhhs.lhusd.org/o/lhhs/page/course-descriptions. It is important that students review course descriptions, pre-requisite information, and make careful decisions about their classes. During pre-registration, students will receive copies of their graduation status reports. Please ask your student about this important information regarding their credits and course selections based on their four-year plan.
Also, review the courses your student has chosen and discuss if the courses are a best “fit.” Please discuss any concerns about classes with your student’s counselor. Please call 928-854-5327 to schedule an appointment or visit the counseling website (https://lhhs.lhusd.org/o/lhhs/page/counselingoffice).

ECAP LESSONS FOR 9TH AND 10TH GRADERS
Counselors met with all 10th graders in October and will meet with 9th graders in the next month to review their ECAP (Education Career Action Plan). Students may access their ECAP portfolio and activities through the web-based Major Clarity website. The website (https://app.paper.co/majorclarity/) is available for all students and will continue to be used throughout their high school career. All students are encouraged to review and use the tools available to them on a regular basis. Below is a brief overview of what the 9th and 10th graders will complete in their ECAP with counselor assistance. We encourage students to use their account regularly so that they can enhance their high school college and career readiness, as we are not able to cover every activity (in Major Clarity) throughout the four years of high school.
9th * Start a 4-year course planner * Choose an academic/career pathway of interest * Review LHHS graduation requirements and individual transcripts * Review how to calculate GPA and college readiness GPA
10th * Continue work in 4-year course planner * Complete a Personality Assessment to obtain a FIT Score for recommended career pathways * Review LHHS graduation requirements and individual transcripts * Review how to calculate GPA and college readiness GPA
You can find more information about ECAP and Major Clarity on the Arizona Department of Education website (http://www.azed.gov/ecap/). On the ADE website you can download the “ECAP at a Glance” in English or Spanish. Copies of this handout will be available on our website as well as for pickup in the Counseling Office.
Parents: We encourage you to have a conversation with your student about ECAP and Major Clarity. Future planning is critical to ensure that students meet graduation requirements, have knowledge about programs of study and are able to pursue their post-secondary goals. Your involvement is extremely important!
