WINTER BREAK DEC. 22nd-JAN 2nd

Hello Greenwood Families,

I hope that November has been a wonderful month for you, filled with positive experiences and good fortune. As we reflect on this time of year, it is often seen as a period of thanksgiving and joy, a moment to appreciation. This spirit of gratitude and celebration is something we are eager to continue.

May this December be a month filled with laughter, joy, and plenty of reasons to be thankful. We look forward to celebrating with you and with hopes that the future will bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.

I also realize that this time of year may be rough for some. As always, if you are ever in need do not hesitate to reach out to our office. If we do not have the needed resource, we may be able to connect you.

Principal Sikaundi

Greenwood was asked to raise funds for KCIS’ Walking with Purpose fundraiser. The staff member/class who raised the most funds would get pied in the face. Of course Principal Sikaundi raised to the challenge with raising the most funds and was pied at the end of October's AAA assembly.

Kindergarteners celebrate their BIG win from October's candy Drive!

Greenwood students had the opportunity to enjoy The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra . A small ensemble performed a 30 minute interactive concert sessions for us!

Our goal is that each student be publicly recognized for their positive contributions to Greenwood. Each month we celebrate Attendance, Attitude (positive behavior) and Academics. Overall, Greenwood is going a great job in all areas. We are currently shrinking our chronically absent numbers.

Thank you parents/gradians for your partnership in getting your child to school daily, it makes a difference!

We’ll be showing The Grinch, plus there will be games, crafts, and plenty of food and concessions (pizza, drinks, candy & more!).

Admission is FREE for all Greenwood families! Concession sales will help raise funds for the Greenwood PTO to support school events and activities. Bring the whole family and celebrate the season, Whoville-style!

In order to make this event a great success we need your help. Please sign up here to volunteer!

.

Make sure your little one has all they need for outdoor recess. If you are in need of any items, please don't hesitate to contact the front office. We will be going outside in cold weather.

Any changes to your child's regular dismissal plans should be
communicated to the office no later than 3:00pm.

The attendance procedures are designed for all students. Good attendance will help students do well in school, college, and at work. It does not matter if absences are excused or unexcused, they all represent lost time in the classroom and lost opportunity to learn. Too many absent students can impact the whole classroom. Show your child that attendance matters to you and that you will not allow an absence, unless someone is truly sick.

Tardy students must be signed in at the office and receive a tardy pass before entering class.
