Week 14 Family Update

Happy Thanksgiving!

Week 14Family UpdateHappy Thanksgiving!

HELLO EAGLES!

A VERY special THANK YOU to our friends at Wedbush and Scholastic for sponsoring Jungman for a free book fair! EVERY single Eagle was able to shop the Scholastic book fair and pick any 3 books they wanted. Our school was also able pick an additional 100 books for our school!

This generosity, especially during this time of "Thanks" and "Giving," is especially meaningful for us here at Jungman. There is nothing that brings us more joy than students having books in their hands and reading for joy! Be on the lookout for the Instagram post and you can see the pure delight and happiness in the kids faces!

Please don't forget about the Regal Movie Theatre fundraiser! Regal Movie theatres can be found all over the United States making them ideal for gift giving especially for out-of-state relatives! The tickets don't expire and each ticket bundle purchased gives $7.50 back! In the fundraising section of the newsletter there are the specific flyers for each grade band. Please share this with friends and family to help us reach our goal of 300 bundles sold! Remember the grade band that sells the MOST bundles will have a special PJ and movie day complete with special snacks!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Parents we need your help! This week our attendance was terrible.

There is no push to have your child come to school sick, but we have to push every single day that they are not sick to be in school, on-time, ready to learn.

Ms. Luzzi's has a perfect attendance challenge for the month of December:

3 classrooms, one from each grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8), will be awarded with an invite to the

Winter Games!

Winter Games is a festive and fun time for students to explore an art and craft, play holiday inspired games with friends or join a dance party.

This year, we are closely monitoring student attendance with the goal of reducing the rate of chronic absenteeism from its current 39%—which is 10% above the state average—down to 15%.

If your child is having issues with attending school regularly, please reach out to Ms. Sarah VanWolvelear at sevanwolvelear@cps.edu immediately to discuss supports and a plan!

Local School Council: Next Meeting is December 9, 2024 at 2:45 PM

  • Comprised of parents, community, educational, and student members, LSCs serve as an important vehicle for participatory democracy, providing a wide variety of stakeholders an opportunity to make important decisions about how students in their communities will be educated.

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC): The next PAC meeting will take place on Friday, December 13 at 8:00am.

  • Each academic year, schools establish Parent Advisory Councils (PACs) to bring together parents/legal guardians, teachers/staff, and community stakeholders to work with their school principal in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of the Title I Program. PACs empower parents to inspire and assist their children in achieving educational goals and graduating from elementary and high school.

Bilingual Advisory Committee (BAC): The next PAC meeting will take place on Friday, December 13 at 8:00am.

  • Bilingual Advisory Committees (BACs) empower parents of English Learners (ELs) to participate in their student's education and advocate for the academic, social, and cultural development of all ELs.
