Paradise Intermediate - FAQ's

We hope that everyone is enjoying a fantastic summer break! We have had a few questions from our school community over the last number of weeks and we are excited to share some new information with you. Please see below for some updates to our FAQ's.

The BUS PLANNER WEB - PARENT PORTAL will be available for families to access beginning mid August. At that time, families who have not already done so will have an opportunity to create an account and update their child's information to reflect current address and zoned school.

Through the bus planner, families will be able to verify if their child is eligible to ride the bus, have access to specific bus routes and bus stops and verify bus arrival and departure times.

When Bus routes become available families will also be able to access them on our school website, https://paradiseintermediate.nlesd.ca/

Our Request for Proposal process (RFP) has concluded and we are happy to welcome Chartwells to the Paradise Intermediate team! Food service is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, September 20th. Please see our website for information regarding Chartwells new online ordering system, Nutrislice.

Yes there is. Our school events calendar can be found on our website. As dates are confirmed for various upcoming activities, school events, or professional learning days, they will be added to our school calendar. This calendar can be accessed by families at anytime and will be updated regularly throughout the school year. Some dates, such as our school opening and picture days have already been added.

For those students who have moved into our school zone and will be transferring to another school, please see check our website to download a copy of our student registration form.

Families are asked to complete the form and email them to stephaniesnow@nlesd.ca. Proof of address will also be required in order to confirm registration at our school.

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day! We are happy to be partnering with Kids Eat Smart to offer our students a breakfast program in the fall! More details on start up dates and menu items will be shared with families as they become available.

Our school photos will be done by Lifetouch on Monday, November 8th. This date has been added to our calendar on our school website.

Teacher professional learning days have not been confirmed for the upcoming school year.

As a school, we will make every effort to notify families of these dates in a timely manner.

For the 2021-2022 school year, the doors to our building will open at 8:15. Classes begin at 8:30 and students will be dismissed at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Families are advised that for the 2022-2023 school year, these opening times may change in order to accommodate possible changes to bussing.

Students from our two feeder schools, Paradise Elementary and Octagon Pond Elementary, will make up our school population. For our opening year, we will have grade 6 and 7 students only. For subsequent years, students will feed in from both our feeder schools after grade 5.

Yes. Our school has both the Early and Late French Immersion program. We also provide English programming and the Intensive Core French Program.

Our lunch period will be 50 minutes long.

Lunch time policies and student expectations for lunch time are currently being reviewed by adminstration. Further information will be available to students and families as we get closer to our opening.

We will be seeking nominations for School Council representatives early in the fall. Please continue to follow our website and Twitter feed for updates.

Not yet, however, we can't wait to involve our students in the process of designing and selecting a school mascot for our wonderful school!

Of course! We are looking forward to working with our students, staff and community to create sport teams, clubs and various activities for our new school. More information on teams, clubs and activities will be shared with students following our opening and throughout the upcoming school year.
