Power Hour continues in full swing and helps our Ravens get better every day. Please note, Power Hour (tutoring) transportation will not be provided because very few students are riding the bus and the routes are getting home very late. We will be providing an afternoon snack. Lots of Greatness On The Horizon!

Thank you parents for encouraging our scholars to be in school every day. Only five more morning wake ups before our break.... let's go for perfect attendance this week!!

Buses: It is bus safety. Please speak to our Ravens about bus expectations and ensure they have a bus ID to check in and out of the route.

Capturing Kid's Hearts: Please read attached newsletter for our November Theme: Teamwork.

What is Teamwork?

Teamwork is the ability to work in unity with others towards a common goal. For us to learn how to become team players, it is important that we learn to listen, encourage our peers, and allow and invite others to contribute their talents and skills.

Why focus on Teamwork?

  • Teamwork improves communication: Teamwork helps us improves our verbal and non-verbal communication skills, conveying that we care and a relevant message.
  • Teamwork builds interpersonal awareness: Growing a great team requires us to first build strong relationships through better understanding ourselves and others.
  • Teamwork celebrates diversity. Teamwork thrives from diverse ideas that come from a mixture of different genders, cultures, expertise, experience, and problem-solving approaches.

Teamwork in Action:

  • Call them a team, not a class or group. A group consists of many different people. A team, however, has a common purpose and a shared responsibility for success.
  • Require teams to set expectations for and manage their own behavior. Do not tell teams what type of behavior is expected -- let them decide for themselves with a Social Contract.
  • Teach and encourage affirmations. Giving affirmations helps connect the team and builds trust, promotes engagement, and boosts a positive culture.

Fine Arts: Congratulations to our orchestra Ravens that auditioned to be part of the 2023 All-Region City Orchestra. They did an outstanding job. All three were selected! I am extremely proud of their great accomplishment! They will be representing Eastlake MS on December 2nd at Eastwood HS at 3:30PM at the All-Region Orchestra Concert. In band, five of our Ravens were selected to form part of the All Region Bands which performed Saturday November 11 in the Montwood High School Auditorium. The Concert Band performed at 5 pm and the Symphonic Band will perform at 7 pm.

Students who made the Concert Band (2nd Band):

Ricardo Archuleta 4th Chair Baritone

Vincent Carpio 10th Chair Trombone

Students who made the Symphonic Band (1st Band):

Library Corner

We welcome all Eastlake MS students to become Raven Readers! Students are expected to check-out and read at least 4 books every marking period to support their literacy. To best encourage this, we provide a great selection of books students will be interested in picking for independent reading, including graphic novels!

The library is promoting different types of books through displays. We invite you to check them out!
