Wildcat Weekly- 4/20-4/24

Message from Principal Martinez 🐾
Dear Wildcat Families:
As we head into an exciting and important time of year, we want to partner with you in supporting your child’s success during upcoming state testing—while also celebrating the many joyful events that bring our school community together!
Preparing for State Testing
State testing is an opportunity for students to show what they’ve learned and how much they’ve grown this year. A few simple steps at home can make a big difference:
- Prioritize rest: Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep each evening.
- Healthy mornings: A nutritious breakfast helps students stay focused and energized.
- Positive encouragement: Remind your child to do their best and that effort matters most.
- On-time arrival: Being at school on time helps students start the day calmly and confidently.
We are proud of the hard work our 3-5th grade students have put in all year, and we know they are ready to shine!
Looking Ahead to a Week of Celebration!
Alongside testing, we are excited to host a series of special events that highlight the joy and connection within our school community:
- Book Fair: A wonderful opportunity to inspire a love of reading! Students will have the chance to explore new books and discover exciting stories.
- Lunch with Loved Ones: We look forward to welcoming families on campus to share a special lunchtime with their children. It’s always a highlight for students and staff alike!
- Multicultural Family Night: We will wrap up the week with an evening of celebration, where we honor the diverse cultures that make our community so vibrant. Enjoy food, music, and traditions from around the world as we come together in unity and appreciation.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can ensure a successful testing experience for our students while also creating meaningful memories through these special events.
We look forward to seeing you throughout this exciting week!
Go Wildcats!
Administrative Professionals Day
On Wednesday, April 22, we celebrate Administrative Professionals Day and want to give a big SHOUT OUT to our amazing front office team! 🎉
Ms. Lorena, our Office Manager, and Mrs. Sarah, our Office Assistant, are truly the heartbeat of our school! From helping with tardies, supporting students and staff, answering questions, managing enrollments, and keeping all the school “behind-the-scenes” magic running—they do it all (and always with a smile 😊).
We are so grateful for their kindness, energy, and all the ways they help make Pomerado such a great place to be. If you see them around campus, be sure to give them a big “thank you!” 💙
Get Ready to Get Booked! 📚✨
🦋📖 The Pomerado Spring Buy-One-Get-One Book Fair is next week Monday, April 20th – Friday, April 24th ! Students can shop independently with their class during their Library times, or with an adult during Lunch with Loved Ones or Spring Multicultural and Art Night (Friday 4/24, 5pm). If you want your child to shop with the class, you can either send in money with them on their Library day, or you can purchase on online Gift Card that will be available for them at the Fair (no need to print anything). Gift Cards can be purchased here (be sure to connect to Pomerado). If you set up an e-gift card, please let me know so I am aware that they have money to shop at the Fair.
🌼🐞 From magical adventures to fascinating facts, there’s something for every young reader to discover. We are looking for volunteers 📚🙋♂️to help our little readers navigate the shelves and assist with checkout. Whether you have an hour or a whole afternoon, we’d love to have you! https://evite.me/MhCVxn6Ras

26-27 Safety Patrol Applications
Safety Patrol Applications are now being accepted for the next school year with training to occur in May. Safety Patrol members not only serve to ensure the safety of our community before and after school but also serve as representatives for Pomerado Elementary and should epitomize the character traits that we value in all our students. There are a limited number of spots, so the selection process will be stringent.
Here is the link to the full parent information letter which includes the application. Students may have already received an application during the information presentation on Thursday. Applications are due by Wednesday, April 22nd.

National Autism Awareness Day 💙
On April 2, in recognition of National Autism Awareness Day, our staff came together in blue to show support, unity, and inclusion for individuals and families in our community. It was a simple but powerful way to raise awareness and celebrate neurodiversity across our campus.
Race for Autism
We were also proud to see many of our staff and families participate in the Race for Autism SUPERHERO 5K and One Mile Family Fun Walk on Saturday April 11th . The event was a wonderful opportunity to come together outside of school, support a meaningful cause, and continue building a culture of understanding and acceptance for all learners. (Here is a picture of Ms. Kelly who participated in the 5K run!)
