Superintendent's Message
Hello LPOSD Families,
We are thrilled to welcome our students back to school next week! As our community says goodbye to another spectacular summer, excitement for the upcoming school year is building. Our goal is a smooth transition and supportive learning environment for every student who walks through our doors September 3rd.
This won't be the first (or last) time you hear this adage from LPOSD — EVERY student graduates a reader! Reading is essential for freedom and success, and our teachers are dedicated to providing the best instruction and encouragement for every student. We are proud to share that LPOSD was recently recognized as one of the top performing districts statewide on the Idaho Reading Indicator, a testament to the hard work of our students and teachers!
You will hear plenty of wonderful news rolling throughout the district this year. From the continued success of our "One Trusted Adult" initiative, to receiving more than $3.5 million to build a new Career Technical Education (CTE) center in the Sandpoint area, to adding another Campus Security Officer in our district, we have much to be thankful for and look forward to another great year of partnering with our parents. Enjoy the last beautiful weekend before school starts, bwm
Dr. Becky Meyer, Superintendent

Distinguished SHS Coach Honored
Recently refurbished SHS/SMS track named after longtime coach David R. DeMers
Great collaboration, planning and financial commitment produced a phenomenal new track complex for Sandpoint High and Sandpoint Middle School students.
“Matt Diel and his facilities department proved once again that they support our athletics and activities,” said TJ Clary, SHS Assistant Principal and Activities/Athletics Director.
Last year, Sandpoint was unable to host home track meets because of unsafe conditions; so the district embarked on a major refurbishment project and now the track is officially open for business.
“We are extremely grateful and excited for our student athletes to compete on the new track,” Clary said.

New Center to Offer Expanded Career Opportunities
This month, the district won a multi-million dollar state grant for North Idaho teenagers looking to pursue careers in the trades. In the coming years, the district envisions using the money to build an expansive Career Technical Education Center (CTEC) of North Idaho, located in the Sandpoint area.
“These programs help students deepen their understanding by partnering with industry and build a more workforce-ready student population,” said Dr. Becky Meyer, LPOSD superintendent.
