Ready to Glow, Grow, and Lead: A New School Year Is Almost Here!
From the Principal, Mrs. Rodriguez
There is something special about August at Lewiston-Porter Intermediate Education Center. While our students are enjoying the last days of summer, our building is coming back to life! Our halls and classrooms have been busy with summer cleaning, organizing, preparing, and planning as we get everything ready to welcome our students back for another exciting school year.
Our custodial and maintenance teams have been working hard to make sure our building is clean, fresh, organized, and ready for Opening Day. Classrooms are being prepared, common areas are being refreshed, and teachers and staff are getting everything in place for a successful start. We are so grateful for all of the behind-the-scenes work that happens throughout the summer to make our school ready for our students.
Welcome to Our New Program Coordinator and New Teachers!
We are also excited to welcome a few new members to our IEC family!
Mrs. Emmons, Program Coordinator
It is with great excitement that we welcome Mrs. Emmons to the IEC part-time. She will be working at the PEC and IEC with all our students, teachers and me! She brings many years of experience from being a classroom teacher at the PEC and a TOSA at the district office.
Mr. Kaminski, Music Teacher
We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Kaminski to our school community. We know he will bring creativity, energy, and a love of music to our students!
Miss Russo, Special Education Teacher
Please join us in welcoming Miss Russo to the IEC! We are excited for her to become part of our team and support our students as they learn, grow, and thrive.
We can't wait for our students and families to meet them!
A Great Start with Our Glow Bingo Party!
What a wonderful way to kick off the school year!
We recently welcomed our incoming 3rd graders and new students for our Glow Bingo Party, and what a night it was! More than 200 students, families, and guests joined us for an evening filled with music, laughter, bingo, glow-in-the-dark fun, and plenty of smiles.
It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and meet so many new members of our IEC family. Events like this remind us that school is about so much more than academics, it is about connection, belonging, relationships, and community.
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the evening such a success. We are already looking forward to more opportunities to Glow Together, Grow Together, and Lead Together!
Class Placements Are Coming!
The wait is almost over!
Classroom placement letters will be mailed to families on Monday, August 24. We know students are excited to find out their teachers and classmates, and we are just as excited to begin this next chapter with them!
Please keep an eye on your mail for this important information.

Enjoy These Last Days of Summer!
Before the backpacks come out and the school bells ring, I hope everyone takes time to enjoy these final days of summer. Spend time outside, make memories, sleep in, read a good book, enjoy a family dinner, or simply slow down and enjoy being together.
A new school year brings new friendships, new challenges, new opportunities, and new reasons to celebrate. We are ready and we hope you are, too!
“Every new beginning comes with the opportunity to grow, learn, and become something even greater.”
Our classrooms are ready. Our teachers are ready. Our building is ready.
And soon, our students will be ready to return!
I cannot wait to see everyone on Opening Day. Let's make this a year where we Glow Together, Grow Together, and Lead Together!

Meet Mr. Kaminski 🎵
Meet Our New Music Department Member: Ryan Kaminski!
As we get ready for the 2026-27 school year, we’re excited to welcome the newest faculty member of the Lewiston-Porter Music Department!
Introducing Ryan Kaminski, our new 3-5 General Music/Chorus teacher! Ryan is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia and Mansfield University, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education/Vocal Music. His previous teaching experience includes St.Mary’s High School and Sweet Home Middle School.
When asked why he wanted to come to Lewiston-Porter, he shared:
“I wanted to join Lew-Port specifically to work at the IEC, to connect with the students & faculty there and be part of a district and department that has a strong tradition of excellence in music.”
We’re so happy to welcome Ryan Kaminski to Lew-Port and look forward to all the music and memories he’ll help create with our elementary students. Welcome to the L-P music family!
Meet Miss Russo 📝
Hi Everyone! My name is Julia Russo, and I am thrilled to join the IEC team this year as a special education teacher. While this is my first year at Lew-Port, it is my fourth year teaching students with special needs. I recently moved to New York from Cleveland, Ohio, and I cannot wait to bring my passion for teaching to this wonderful community!
Pick Up Patrol Information
ATTENTION IEC PARENTS
Please Complete Your Child's Default Dismissal Plan
To ensure a smooth and safe start to the school year, every student must have a default dismissal plan on file before the first day of school. This allows teachers and office staff to know how your child will go home each day.
Step 1: Complete the Default Dismissal Plan
Please complete the Default Dismissal Plan as soon as possible.
Important:
Submit only one form per student.
If your child has more than one parent/guardian, please communicate to ensure the form is only submitted once.
If you have multiple children attending the IEC, please list the names of each student on the same form.
Step 2: Verify Your Email in PowerSchool
Please make sure your email address is current in PowerSchool. PickUp Patrol invitations will be sent to the email addresses listed in PowerSchool.
Bus Transportation & Alternate Addresses
Each student has one official home address on file for transportation.
If your child will regularly be dropped off or picked up at an alternate address (for example, a grandparent's or another parent's home), you must complete an Alternate Bus Form.
Please note:
Alternate transportation requests do not carry over from year to year and must be submitted annually.
Until the alternate address has been approved by the Transportation Department, your child should remain assigned to their default "Bus Home" dismissal plan. Parents may need to provide transportation on days the alternate location is needed until approval has been received.
Once the Transportation Department approves the alternate address, the IEC will update your child's dismissal plan and notify you.
Alternate Bus Forms are processed by the Transportation Department, not the IEC office.
Alternate Bus Form: ALTERNATE BUS FORM
What's Next?
Watch your email for a welcome message from PickUp Patrol and complete your registration as soon as you receive it.
Please note: You will not be able to submit dismissal changes until your PickUp Patrol account has been activated.
What is PickUp Patrol?
PickUp Patrol is our online dismissal management system that allows families to:
Report student absences
Report tardies
Request early dismissals
Change dismissal plans
Notify the school of after-school clubs or activities
Notifications are sent directly to your child's teacher and the school office, eliminating the need for phone calls or handwritten notes.
All dismissal changes must be entered into PickUp Patrol by 2:00 p.m. each school day.
Need to Update Your Contact Information?
If your address, email address, or phone number changes, please email the IEC Main Office with the following information:
Parent/Guardian Name
Student's Name
Relationship to the Student
Updated Contact Information
Address changes require proof of residency (such as a lease agreement, utility bill, or other approved documentation).
The IEC office will forward all approved changes to the District Office.

Mrs. Jaruszewski's Looping class meeting
What an exciting meeting for Mrs. Jaruszewski's 5th grade classroom. In September of 2026 they will become the 5th grade mentors to Miss Yager's 4th grade students and are incredibly excited to embark on this journey.
On August 20th they spent time planning and preparing for their leadership roles. They created inspirational message posters and came up with many exciting project ideas that will align with our 4th and 5th grade curriculum.
In addition, it was such a gift to spend time observing their growth and maturity while they poured their excitement into preparing to help their younger friends throughout the year.
