At Dealey, we believe that being a hero is not about superpowers—it’s about the choices we make every day. Our students show us what it means to lead with courage, kindness, and integrity, both inside and outside the classroom.
As we celebrate a week full of excitement and community, we encourage all of our students to rise to the moment and show their very best.

Outdoor Update & Student Precautions (Chiggers)
Good afternoon Dealey families,
I want to provide a brief update regarding recent reports of insect bites following outdoor activities.
Our campus completed a full exterior pest control treatment on March 18. Due to seasonal conditions, insect activity (including chiggers) can increase during this time of year. In response to recent concerns, we have already requested a follow-up inspection and additional treatment and are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
For this week only, we are taking the following precautions:
- Temporarily limiting student contact with grassy and garden areas, particularly for students who have not had the opportunity to apply preventative measures prior to arrival
- Continuing grounds monitoring and maintenance
- Supporting students through the nurse as needed
We also want families to know that parents may make individual decisions for their child. If you prefer, you may still allow your child to participate in outdoor grassy areas this week at your own discretion.
A few important reminders:
- Parents may apply insect repellent to their own child before school or by checking in through the front office
- School staff and volunteers do not apply repellents or other substances to students
- Students should not bring or apply powders or sprays at school
As always, outdoor learning and play are an important part of the student experience, and we will continue to take reasonable steps to ensure students remain safe and comfortable.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
Warm regards,
