Promoting Positive Behavior!

P.B.I.S. @ M.T.E.SPromoting Positive Behavior!

What is PBIS?

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) is an important part of our daily process at MTES. We have several school-wide PBIS initiatives that we incorporate each day for our students to incentivize their positive behavior choice. You may be familiar with a few, such as our TEAM rules and Panther Bucks. Our TEAM rules are an emphasis throughout the school and are said each day on our morning announcements. They are a conversation piece that teachers and staff discuss with students on a daily basis. Our TEAM rules stand for:

  • T - Treat others the way you want to be treated.

  • E - Every day, come prepared to learn.

  • A - Always be respectful.

  • M - Make good choices.

What do students earn?

When students meet the expectations of their teachers or the TEAM rules they have an opportunity to earn a "Panther Buck." When students earn Panther Bucks, they have a few options:

  • Turn them into their teacher for a chance to be a daily winner or monthly winner.

    • Daily winners have their names called on the announcements and earn a prize.

    • Monthly winners are entered into a drawing to win a bigger prize, of their choice, out of our display case in the main hallway.

  • Save 10 Panther Bucks to exchange for a token. A token is used to spin our prize machine in the cafeteria and collect a small prize.

  • Exchange 10 Panther Bucks for a hat pass and wear your favorite hat for the day.

  • Exchange 10 Panther Bucks for a Lunch Buddy pass. Have the opportunity to turn in your lunch pass to your teacher and sit on stage during lunch with friends.

Every month we create a Panther Buck video for our students. This recaps our TEAM rules, highlights our expectations throughout the building, and announces our monthly Panther Buck winners.

How can families be involved?

We invite you to watch the videos (included below), as well as encourage your children to display the TEAM rules while they are here at school each day. It would be a great idea to also engage in regular conversations about your child's expectations within their classrooms at school. This consistency in communication will help promote positive behaviors both at school and at home.
