THE BEAR ESSENTIALS
Week of February 16, 2026
Hello Bear Families,
Please remember that there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17, as we observe our mid-winter break. We hope everyone enjoys this time to rest, recharge, and spend time with family. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, refreshed and ready to finish the winter season strong.
Michigan has recently passed legislation regarding student cell phone use in schools. In alignment with this law and our commitment to protecting valuable learning time, students may not use cell phones during instructional time.
To support this expectation, teachers have designated storage areas in their classrooms where students will place their silenced phones for the duration of class.
Families may contact the main office if they need to reach their child during the school day. Thank you for your continued partnership in maintaining a focused, distraction-free learning environment.
Go Bears!

National Honor Society Applications Available Feb 18
Wednesday, February 18, during all lunches, Mr. Trusewicz will be in the cafeteria passing out applications to join the National Honor Society. Mr. Trusewicz has a list of all 10th and 11th-graders with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. These are the only students permitted to apply (Note: No Freshmen will be invited to join). This weekend, please review MiStar to see if your student meets the GPA requirement. If so, they will receive a code to the NHS Google Classroom, where they will be able to find the application. The application is due March 18 to either Mr. Trusewicz or Mrs. McCabe. Please have all requirements in a sealed envelope or folder when turned in. No late applications will be accepted. After applications are turned in, they will be reviewed by an advisory board consisting of several teachers from RHS. The list of those accepted should be posted by the evening of March 20 on Google Classroom. The NHS induction ceremony will take place on the evening of April 14. Parents and family members are encouraged to attend this event. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Trusewicz (trusewd@wy.k12.mi.us). Best of luck to all applicants, Go Bears!
Sending Student Emails Correctly
Recently there has been some feedback from students that emails are not getting to their intended recipient in the district. Google has recently added some extra filters in gmail that could be causing emails not to be sent. The technology department has identified some ways that students can make sure emails are sent correctly. The following information sheet and video can walk them through this process.
