Richmond Hill Athletics News-October 2022
Message from the Athletic Director
Wildcat Nation,
I got an email a few weeks back that I have to share. We were visiting the lower schools as we love to do. After our coaches and athletes welcomed students and staff, they went into classrooms to interact with the future wildcats. They spent about 20 minutes in the classrooms and then reported back to the bus. We noticed we were missing a student, so we went back to see where that athlete was. Well, we found him…in a playhouse…the ones that parents put together on Christmas morning, and it takes way too long. As you can imagine, it is very small, plastic, and colorful. This particular athlete does not fit or belong in a “house” of that size. He was inside with his knees to his chest, interacting with a student. We got an email from that teacher, expressing the positive impact this athlete had on this young wildcat. He did not have to go out of his way to crawl in this house. He could have shown up, said hello, and waved goodbye…but he didn’t. He took the time to invest. He invested in a young person, the biggest impact that we can have. As you can imagine, we are very proud of this young man and this community for instilling this great responsibility into him. That is what Build The Hill is all about…investing in young men and women for a bright future.
“Leadership is not about you; it’s about investing in the growth of others.” – Ken Blanchard.
October is here and so are playoff hopes. If you see a fall sport athlete or coach, invest in them! They have worked all year long, gone through competition and travel, battled injury and mental fatigue, and served our community in many ways. Give them the spark they need to finish strong. They all sacrifice much time and energy to get to this final stretch…so let’s all get behind them to finish strong!
Go Wildcats!
