Parent and Community Engagement at Truitt Middle School
Hello Timberwolf families,
It is hard to believe that it is already November! Our students and staff are working hard every day and we are seeing a lot of growth from our students already this year.
There are a couple of things we could use your help with.
Attendance: Our goal for this year is 95%, however, we are still hovering right around 94.8%. Our APs and Counselors are creating some fun things for the students at lunches on Friday to encourage attendance, but we need your help. Please do everything you can to ensure your student attends school each day. Even missing one or two days each month adds up.
Engagement: Ask your students often about their classwork and what they are learning. Encourage them to take pride in their work and try hard on every assignment. Education can open so many doors for our students and their grades only become more important as they get older.
If you haven't already, we would encourage you to fill out the form later in the newsletter to get involved. With the holidays approaching, we are always looking for parents to help out, donate items for staff appreciation, or to gather items for our PBIS Rewards Student Store. If you or a group of friends ever want to put together a small treat for the staff, please email sonia.yepez@cfisd.net.
Follow us across social media platforms to see highlights of some of the great things going on at Truitt Middle School. We have a new Facebook page, so please use the link at the bottom of the newsletter to give us a follow.

Procedures for Students Leaving Early
Dear Parents and Guardians,
If you plan on having your student leave early because of a doctor's appointment or non-emergency, please follow these procedures:
- Send a handwritten note with your student information and the time needed to be excused (please make sure your student gives it to attendance before 1st period).
- If sending a note through email, please make sure you attach a photo of your ID and you must send it an hour prior to leaving.
- No emails or early releases after 2:30 pm due to the dismissal process starting.
Please keep in mind that the state of Texas requires students to be in attendance at least 90% for each class or they will be in danger of losing credit. Try to schedule appointments for after school and ensure your student is on time for first period every day.
Other helpful tips:
- Make sure if your student is absent, please send a doctor's note when your student arrives back to school.
- Only emergency contacts listed can be allowed to take students with previous approval from guardian.
- If a student arrives at school after 7:55 am, make sure to sign them in or send a note. Otherwise, they will be counted absent.
If you have any questions or concerns,
Please email nancy.torres2@cfisd.net or jennifer.villarreal@cfisd.net
for any attendance needs
