A Message From Dr. Cannon
Happy Friday!
We celebrated our first ever PAX Leaders of the Month this week! Students voted on a student in their classroom who was demonstrating our September character trait, which was honesty. Students received certificates, received a good news phone call home with me, and will have their picture hung in the office. Our October character trait is respect.
To help everyone stay focused and to avoid lost or broken items, please have your child leave toys at home. Thank you for your support!
If you do not already, please follow our Facebook page for more announcements, news, and photos.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kirsten Cannon, Principal

Updated September 19th
Hello parents and guardians!
It has been a busy month in the counseling office! We officially have several weeks of our classroom Second Step lessons completed. Each grade is working on different skills, from how to pay attention and limit distractions, to what happens in our brain as we are learning, and how to set goals and create plans to achieve them. Students have been engaged and love participating during these classroom lessons!
We also have some lunch bunches up and going. Students have been asking often to have lunch in my office and it’s such a fun, casual way to connect with the students and talk with them about their interests and activities. Some students have been asking on a regular basis to have lunch with me, so when those consent forms for groups come home, chances are your student is excited to have lunch in a smaller setting with their friends in my office. If you ever have questions about those forms, please let me know!
We continue to work on our building wide PBIS expectations and have been focusing on the word honesty for the month of September. Students are having great conversations and discussing why it’s important for us to be honest and how they can encourage their friends to be honest as well. They are also enjoying earning Bogan Brave tickets for their honesty, and for being kind, safe, and responsible.
As a reminder, if your student needs anything at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I can be reached at the following contact information:
Email: heidelh@talawanda.org
Phone: 513-273-3460
There is also a Google Form you can complete and I can follow up with details on support for your student.
On November 21st, I am planning a school wide career and spark day for our students. This day is an opportunity for people to come in and share about their careers and passions with the students. So far, I have commitments from various fields such as farming, engineering, electricians, cake decorating and more. If you have a career or a passion you’d love to come in and share with our students, please fill out THIS Google Form and I will be in touch with more details!
