📢The Scoop from the Sup'📢

Welcome to 2025: A Year of Opportunity and Growth

As we step into 2025, we are filled with optimism and excitement for the opportunities ahead. Thank you to our students, staff, parents, and community members for the dedication and partnership that make our schools a place of excellence. Together, we will continue to achieve great things this year!

Welcoming a New Board Member

The school board members will conduct interviews on January 9th for a 6 month appointment to the Meade School Board. The board will welcome a new member at the January 13th meeting, due to the resignation of Darrell Vig in December. We thank Mr. Vig for his service and dedication to our district.

Strategic Planning for the Future

At the January 23rd board meeting, the Board of Education will select a company to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan. This process will involve gathering input from community members, parents, and staff to establish a shared vision and actionable goals for the future of Meade 46-1. We are excited to engage with stakeholders and chart a course for continued success in our district.

Stay Connected with Meade School District

Communication is key to building a strong partnership between our schools and families. Stay informed about events, updates, and important announcements by following our district’s social media pages and downloading the Meade School District App. These platforms provide real-time information and highlight the amazing things happening in our schools.

We encourage families to use these tools to stay engaged and connected. Whether it’s checking board agendas, finding scheduled events, receiving alerts, or celebrating student achievements, our app and social media pages make it easy to stay in the loop.

Coleen Keffeler was recently selected as the South Dakota Region 7 Assistant Principal of the Year.

Mrs. Keffeler is a dedicated caring professional who has been the Culinary Arts teacher, led the Career Technical Education Department for years and transitioned to Assistant Principal at Sturgis Brown High School all while in the Meade School District. Sturgis Brown High School Welcomes Jade Temple as New Activities Director

STURGIS, SD - Sturgis Brown High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Jade Temple as the new Activities Director, bringing over two decades of experience in athletics administration, marketing, and communications to the role.

Temple joins Sturgis Brown from the Douglas School District, where he most recently served as Communications Coordinator, managing district-wide communications strategy and community engagement initiatives. Prior to that, he spent 13 years at Black Hills State University as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, overseeing NCAA compliance and eligibility for 330+ student-athletes across 14 Division II programs.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jade Temple to the Sturgis Brown family," said Principal Pete Wilson. "His extensive experience in athletic administration, combined with his deep roots in the Black Hills community, makes him the ideal candidate to lead our activities program into the future."

Temple's background includes notable achievements in athletic program management, event coordination, and community engagement. At Black Hills State University, he managed athletic program budgets, administered game day activities, and served on strategic planning committees.

A former collegiate athlete himself, Temple played football at Black Hills State University from 1994-1998, serving as team captain for two years. He holds both a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Black Hills State University.

Temple has demonstrated commitment to community service through his work with organizations such as Feeding South Dakota, South Dakota Special Olympics, and youth sports programs.

Educating youth takes a community effort, and because of that the Meade School Board is encouraging parents, guardians and other interested patrons to volunteer their time, knowledge and talents.

Members of the community bring new energies and resources into the schools and expand the walls of the classrooms. School volunteers enrich the educational program and strengthen the schools’ relationships with homes, businesses, public agencies and private institutions. All volunteers in the Meade School District do so without pay or employee benefits, except for workers’ compensation. For those interested in volunteering.
