Dear families,

Tomorrow starts the 23-24 school year and we are ready to become the buffalo! I have tried to include all you might need to know about the first weeks of school - lunch, drop off, pick-up, attendance incentives, school shirts, etc.

We hope you have enjoyed getting to know our staff through our Facebook posts, if you are not on Facebook, we encourage you to like our page as we post lots of information there.

We look forward to a great year and being partners in growing your child to become leaders and life-long learners!

Water bottles may be purchased at school for 50 cents per bottle. Students may bring their own clear - no flavored or energized water bottles may be brought to school.

Arrival/Dismissal Times Arrival/Dismissal Times

Doors will open each morning at 7:35. 5th Graders may be dropped off on the north end by their classroom. All other students must be dropped off in the back. Doors will close at 7:55 and then students must come in through the front. If your child is late, after 8:00 a.m., please come in and sign them in. Remember, three tardies/leaving early count as an unexcused absence. Parents are not allowed to walk their children to class.

Dismissal times have changed!! Monday - Thursday we will dismiss at 3:50 and Friday will be 3:00. All bus riders must have a bus tag to ride the bus, if they do not, you will be required to bring and pick them up at the school. Bus tags may be replaced for a fee of $10.00. Bus routes may not be changed for your child to ride home with another student. Pk-2 students will dismiss by the playground and 3-5 will be back by the gym. It usually takes us a week or so to get the kinks worked out, so be patient and we will work as efficiently as possible.

What if I need to change the way my child gets home??? You must call the front office before 2:00 on Monday - Thursday and 1:00 on Friday in order to change the method your child will get home. We will not make changes after that as it gets confusing with all the moving parts of our campus with 500+ students and over 70 staff. You may not come to the office and collect your student after 3:00 Monday - Thursday or 2:00 on Friday. You will need to wait until the end of the school day. Once a child is on their bus, you cannot collect them from the bus prior to their stop. This is a safety hazard and could result in releasing a child to the wrong individual, so we kindly ask you to let us do our jobs to keep all children safe.

Attendance Attendance

Our official attendance time is 9:35 for Stanton Elementary. Please send a note with your child the day they return to school following an absence.

If your child is fever free without medication and has not thrown up in the past 24 hours, or a doctor has ordered them to stay home, we need and want them here at school. Attendance is extremely important for your student. A student who missed 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school during the year. Poor attendance can influence whether children can read proficiently by the end of third grade or be held back. Missing two days per month is considered chronic absenteeism. Truancy charges can be filed against parent/guardian for chronic absenteeism.
