BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION

We hope that this first edition of the 25-26 school year “Monarch Messenger” finds everyone in the MoHi community doing well. We will be sending out this format of messaging each week with a focus on important reminders and key upcoming dates. Hopefully, it will help keep everyone in our community informed and on the same page. I will also occasionally add to the communication with longer messages and even some videos to increase the sense of feeling connected to what is happening at MoHi.

Be sure to pay close attention to all the Back-to-School information in this edition. Back-2-School days are happening next week on the 7th and 8th of August. 9th grade students start with their own special “Coyote Day” orientation on Wednesday, August 13th. All students are back on Thursday, August 14th for all class on our regular 7 period bell schedule.

For now I will leave it by saying how excited I am to welcome everyone back and we look forward to seeing students back in school again. Sko Yotes!

Mark your calendars now for September 22-27 and our Homecoming week of events called “Monarch Mayhem”.

Last year we had a lot of fun putting forth our first attempt at "Mayhem" with schoolwide and community engagement through the traditions of homecoming. We want to elevate the experience for our students to make it more inclusive of our entire student body and our feeder schools in Louisville and Superior. Students, your leadership and involvement will be vital to Monarch’s school spirit going bigger and better than you have ever seen. Parents, we will be seeking out your active engagement and support for Monarch as we try and pull off something extraordinary.

TRAFFIC TRAFFIC

TRAFFIC

If you are returning to us, you are well aware that traffic flow into Monarch in the mornings can present a challenge. Traffic challenges are particularly acute during the first several weeks of school. Please remember, ALL of Campus Drive is 20 MPH. You can find a map of our traffic flow pattern here.

Parents should not drop off or pick up students in the staff parking lot.

Second entrees are available for purchase for $2.50.

Student ID Numbers = Faster Lines
Students must enter their six-digit student ID number at the register to check out. This number can be found in Infinite Campus.
Students, please memorize your ID number to help keep lines moving quickly!

Adding Funds for Extra Purchases
If your student wants a second entrée or a la carte items (like a side salad, fruit, or milk without a full entrée), they’ll need funds in their meal account.

COUNSELING COUNSELING

2025-26 STUDENT SCHEDULES

Students will be able to see their schedule in IC on Thursday, August 7th. We remain committed to providing students with a meaningful and engaging educational experience, but we must also be clear about the limitations these staffing challenges create. Specifically, we need student and parent understanding around:

  • Course schedules will be more constrained. Not all elective requests will be able to be honored. Some courses had to be cut completely, while others are at their max capacity with no room for additions.

  • Schedule change requests will be limited. Students should not anticipate changes when seeking preferences like a specific teacher, asking for a desired off period, or changing levels of a course. We have class sizes that are as high as 36-38 students in some classes, with no room to move students around because of preferences.

With these constraints in mind - counselors will NOT be available during Back to School Check-in. There will be a process for students to submit their requests for schedule changes to be reviewed.

The goals of the school to provide small class sizes and academic equity will be considered first and foremost. Because schedule changes create a ripple effect that impacts class size and student learning, counselors will only be changing schedules for specific academic purposes.

Valid reasons for a schedule change request include:

  • If a student did not get a core academic course on their schedule that was requested

  • If a student has not met the prerequisite to be in the current course

  • If a student needs a course in order to meet graduation requirements

  • If a student needs a course in order to meet college entrance requirements

Please note, counselors are not able to make changes to schedules that include period changes (including lunch), teacher changes, or adding classes.

**Paper copies of your schedule will not be available at check-in. Please use Infinite Campus to check your schedule.**

SCHEDULE ERRORS:

Students who have an error that needs to be corrected on their schedules that are released on August 7, will need to fill out a course correction form. Forms will be available in the cafeteria on the Back-2-Schools check in days.
