update: We had a slight setback with the cyber incident, and have decided to change the way we were planning to sell tickets. We are suggesting $2/adult, free for children, and/or a donation of your choice. All proceeds earned will go directly to supporting this year’s play, and if there is any money left over, it will go to future performances. Our performances will be held on Wednesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 15 . Both performances will start at 6:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:15. Thank you for all your support! We are so excited to bring this play to you!

SAC Donates $4,000 to local food sharing program that directly benefits students in KFL&A.

This year, one of the School Advisory Council's fundraising goals is to support the Food Sharing Project (FSP). For over 40 years, the FSP has provided nutritious food to schools, enabling them to offer students healthy breakfast, lunch, and hearty snack programs. Locally, the FSP supports 88 publicly funded schools in KFL&A, including Maple Elementary. The estimated cost to provide food to Maple Elementary is $20,000 / school year.

SAC has provided funding in past years and committed to $4,000 to support the FSP team's continued efforts this year. We hope to provide additional funding as we continue to work diligently through our fundraising efforts.

The 2024 Public Health report on "The Cost of Eating Healthy" stated that one in three families in KFL&A is experiencing food insecurity. This alarming trend grew from one in six just the year before in 2023. In January, the City of Kingston declared a food security emergency. By providing healthy food at school, struggling families can use their limited income to pay rent, utilities, or gas to get to work.

If any members of our school community would like to support this organization further, you can donate by visiting the website at http://www.foodsharingproject.org/.

Why Use the SchoolMessenger App?

When you join SchoolMessenger, you will be able to:

  • receive imporant information from LDSB
  • join classrooms and extra-curricular groups
  • report a student's absence (same day and in advance)

Reporting A Student's Absence:

The new student absence reporting system will let you use a mobile app, a website, or an interactive toll-free phone number to report an absence in advance. These options are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time.

If your student is marked absent and the absence hasn’t been reported in advance, our new SafeArrival system will attempt to reach the student’s priority contact by telephone to confirm the absence. If our system is unable to reach the designated contacts, school office staff will follow up.
