Attendance Procedure Adjustments - Class attendance is now due at the end of the instructional day!

At all times, we try to reflect on ways to improve our processes, and make changes when we are able. Here is the big change we can make at this time:

Class attendance needs to be submitted to AERIES by the end of the instructional day, and no longer is required to be submitted in the first 10 minutes of class.

We recognize that everything is in flux this year, and want to as supportive as possible for teachers to engage with their students during class, and address the attendance issues once instruction is over.

Phase 1B Schedule Coming Monday, September 21

Reflection is an ongoing process, and as we continue to prepare for in-person learning in the future, OCSA will be transitioning to the Phase 1B Schedule that is contained within the School Reopening & Safety Plan. Here are the highlights of the schedule:

  • 2-85 minute blocks with each academic/elective class each week (M/W, Blocks 1-3, T/TH, Blocks 4-6)
  • School will continue to start at 8:30 AM
  • Friday will be ASYNCHRONOUS for Blocks 1-6 where students will be engaged in some type of daily assignment that they will submit by the end of class (or 4:15 PM) for proof of instructional minutes, and to provide additional time for teacher preparation and "Block 7" office hours
  • The schedule adopted in Phase 1B is identical to the Phase 2 Hybrid/Blended Learning Schedule

This schedule will begin on Monday, September 21 to align with the start of the 2nd 6-week grading period. OCSA families will receive an email this week informing them of the upcoming change.
