TItle IX & LCPS

The Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Title IX Office has launched an initiative to educate

students about Title IX, a federal civil rights law that helps ensure all students can learn and

participate in school free from sex-based discrimination. Specifically, Title IX protects students

from sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, discrimination based on

pregnancy or related conditions, and other forms of sex-based misconduct.

We have launched this initiative to ensure students are aware of their rights and the resources that exist to support them should they encounter these issues.

The training is designed to help students identify what Title IX issues can look like in everyday

situations. Through realistic and age-appropriate scenarios, students will learn about situations that include harassment, unwanted touching, dating violence, stalking, inappropriate digital behavior, the sharing of nude or sexually explicit images, and discriminatory conduct. It encourages students to speak up when something does not feel right, seek help from trusted adults, and support their peers in creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.

We recognize that some content may be sensitive, and we are committed to presenting it in a

thoughtful, age-appropriate, and supportive manner. We are providing parents with a chance to

review the material in advance and to opt their student out of the lesson.

Due to licensing restrictions, LCPS is unable to distribute the video link directly to the community. We want to ensure, however, that families have the opportunity to make an informed decision regarding their student's participation in the Title IX Student Bystander Training lesson during the 2026–2027 school year.

To provide you with additional time and opportunities to preview the Title IX Student Bystander

Training video, we are pausing the school implementation of the training lesson at this time. The

Title IX Office will offer additional viewing sessions for families before we move forward.

The LCPS Title IX Office is offering additional virtual viewing opportunities for

parents/guardians.

Additional sessions include:

• Monday, October 19, 2026: 5:30 - 6 p.m. (virtual)

• Thursday, November 5, 2026: 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. (virtual)

Parents and guardians are welcome to attend any of the scheduled sessions. Following the video presentation, members of the Title IX Office will be available to answer questions, provide

additional context regarding the purpose of the lesson, and explain how the material will be

presented to students.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP by completing the following form: LCPS Title IX: Bystander

Training Video Parent Viewing Opportunity. A virtual meeting link will be emailed to you after

your RSVP has been received.

Should you choose to opt your student out of viewing the Title IX Student Bystander video and

lesson, please complete the Opt-Out permission click form. If you have students at multiple schools, you will need to fill one out a permission click form for each school your students are enrolled..

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact your school

administration or the Title IX Office at TitleIXCoordinator@lcps.org.

Opt-Out Option

Parents/guardians who do not wish for their student to participate in this lesson may opt out by

completing the designated opt-out form available below.

PINK WEEK & DECA

Riverside DECA is excited to kick off Pink Week, our annual school wide initiative dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness and supporting local patients! This year's theme, “Knock Out Breast Cancer,” brings a week of pink-themed activities, fundraising, and school spirit, leading up to the Pink Out football game on Friday, October 23rd! Be sure to join us for the Powder Puff game on Thursday, October 22nd, at 6:00 PM!

Official Pink Out T-shirts will be sold throughout the week at Riverside High School, as well as at Belmont Ridge Middle School on Thursday and Friday. All proceeds will benefit the Loudoun Breast Health Network (LBHN), a local nonprofit supporting breast cancer patients in our community.

Wear pink, show your school spirit, and help us knock out breast cancer!

Attendance Matters at Riverside High School

Regular school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success. When students attend school consistently, they are more likely to stay engaged in learning, build positive relationships with teachers and peers, and remain on track for graduation. Even a few missed days can make it difficult to keep up with coursework and important classroom experiences.

We encourage all families to visit the Riverside High School Student Attendance Page, where you can find important information about

  • reporting absences,

  • attendance procedures,

  • excused and unexcused absences,

  • early dismissals,

  • attendance contacts, and

  • helpful resources to support student success.

Staying informed about attendance expectations helps ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive at Riverside. Let's work together to make every day count! 📚🎓

RVHS PTSO Spirit Walk

Hello and thank you for supporting the Riverside PTSO's Spirit Walk fundraiser by purchasing an engraved brick! The bricks have been installed around the flagpoles at school and they look great (attached are a couple of photos). We are currently taking our second round of engraved brick orders, so please help us spread the word to friends and neighbors who may have missed out the first time around by sharing this link with them. Thank you again, RVHS PTSO
