From the Principal's Desk

Dear Salt Creek Families,

We have had a wonderful start to the school year at Salt Creek! It has been so great having our students back in the building and seeing our classrooms and hallways filled with smiles, learning, and excitement. Thank you to all of our families for your support, patience, and partnership as we settle into our routines for the new school year. Our students and staff have done an amazing job getting back into the swing of things!

Today, we held our annual Safety Day, and our students and staff did a fantastic job practicing our different school safety procedures. These drills are an important part of helping everyone understand what to do in the event of an emergency while keeping the experience calm and age-appropriate for our young students. At a later date, we will also conduct a lockdown drill in partnership with the Elmhurst Police Department and our fire drill with the Elmhurst Fire department. We will communicate with families ahead of time so you know when that drill will take place.

As we head into the fall, please feel free to send a sweatshirt or light jacket with your child if they tend to get cold during the school day. We want everyone to be comfortable and ready to learn!

Finally, a quick reminder about our morning drop-off procedures. If you are dropping your child off from your vehicle, please pull forward as far as possible in the drop-off lane before having your child exit. Once your child is safely out of the vehicle, please pull away slowly and carefully. Keeping the line moving helps make arrival safer and more efficient for everyone. If you would like to park and walk your child to the door, please park in the front school parking lot and walk them up rather than parking or stopping in the drop-off lane.

Thank you again for helping us have such a positive start to the school year. We truly appreciate your partnership and all that you do to help keep arrival safe and smooth for our students.

Please remember to join us for our Curriculum Night and Community Showcase on Wednesday, September 16th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Salt Creek Primary School. We look forward to seeing all our families!

We are excited for everything ahead and look forward to a fantastic year together at Salt Creek!

Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.

Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances

Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

Bus Information Bus Information

First Student

Please be advised that there are times when our buses are running late. First Student will notify us of any time delays so we can notify parents of the status. Sometimes a situation can happen when the school office is closed. School office hours are from 7:15 am to 3:15 pm. In this case, you may contact First Student at 630-279-2720. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade students must have a parent or other adult meet them at the bus stop every day after school.

Standard Response Protocol

Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.

In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.

Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
