PARENTS - We Would Love Your Input!
Parents, please complete the Ga Climate Survey by December 19, 2025 by navigating to https://survey.gadoe.org/FM?sid=11FA203A.
To ensure that all students have the opportunity to perform their best on their exams, there will be no student check-outs allowed during the final exam window. This procedure is necessary to minimize disruptions and maintain the integrity of the testing process. We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, but we kindly request that appointments and other obligations be scheduled outside of this critical period. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
Second Semester Schedules
Second semester schedules for students will be available to view prior to returning from winter break. Courses offered at Seckinger High School are for the entire school year and span both semester one and semester two. While we make attempts to keep semester two schedules the same as semester one, schedule changes may occur.
Assessment and Block Schedule
See pdf below for list of assessment (gray) and block days for the Spring Semester (page 2 of the pdf). Please note that dates are subject to change.
A Note From the Attendance Office
The responsibility of school attendance is that of both parents/families and students. School attendance is important as it underscores the significance of learning and obtaining an education in our ever-evolving society. Regular school attendance also correlates strongly with improved grades and it helps students develop good work habits that will carry over in life. To aid students in being academically successful, attendance is required for attainment of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) standards. The Superintendent has designated the minimum levels of attendance in procedure consistent with state standards.
GCPS Student Handbook - Attendance
GCPS no longer accepts email or handwritten notes from parents when a child is absent. Parents must submit information regarding recent absences, such as doctor's notes, in ParentVUE. More detailed information.
Notes should be submitted within seven days of an absence.

Seckinger Achievements and Recognitions
Congratulations Dannica Barnum: UAE Space Challenge Lead Mentor
Congratulations to Ms. Barnum who has been selected by Arizona State University and the UAE Space Agency to serve as 1 of 5 Lead Mentors for the UAE Space Challenge program (March 28-April 7) integrating space science, innovation, and real-world problem solving to prepare the next generation of space leaders. The UAE Space Challenge program will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for most of the program and will conclude in the United States. It will target some of the most gifted Emirati youth for participation in this rigorous space science program.
We are so excited that Ms. Barnum will represent Seckinger globally and exchange ideas and information that she can bring back and share with teachers here at Seckinger and in Gwinnett. Congratulations, Ms. Barnum! This is a huge accomplishment! See information below to learn more about this exciting program.
The program will consist of three phases: a Lunar Settlement, a Mars Settlement, and an ASU and Partner visit to the United States. Approximately 10,000 highly gifted Emirati students in 11th grade, 12th grade, and undergraduate studies will undergo rigorous testing to qualify for the program. From this group, 500 students will be selected to participate in Phase 1: The Lunar Settlement. Ms. Barnum will oversee 100 of these students.
During Phase 1, students will develop a successful Lunar Settlement under the guidance of Lead Mentors and Technical Subject Matter Experts. They will present their settlement designs and a functioning Lunar Rover to NASA astronauts and members of the UAE Space Agency, who also serve as supervising program partners. At the end of the challenge week, students will complete an additional round of rigorous testing. Only 250 gifted students will advance to Phase 2: The Mars Settlement, where they will complete another week of intensive coursework and collaboration focused on Mars.
Following Phase 2, students will participate in a final round of testing and presentations to NASA. From this group, 20 students will be selected for the final phase of the program, which will take place at Arizona State University.
In addition to supervising 100 students during Phase 1 and 125 students during Phase 2 of the program in the Middle East, Ms. Barnum will participate in multiple professional development meetings and trainings before and during the trip, earning two certificates totaling 35 hours of professional development.

At a recent tournament all three teams were ranked in the top 6 after the qualification matches. 4873K made it to the quarterfinals and 4873S and 4873G made it all the way to the tournament finals in the elimination rounds.
4873K was awarded the Innovate Award for their creative problem solving, documentation and robot design.
Additionally, all three teams were jointly awarded the Sportsmanship Award for once again standing out with positive and helpful attitudes. I can always count on these students to be the first to volunteer to help and the last out during clean up. They truly represent the Seckinger Standard every day!
Finally, team 4873S qualified for the VEX Robotics Georgia State Championship - this is the first state qualification for VEX robotics in school history!
