This letter is to inform you of an incident that occurred this morning on Bus #2012.
At approximately 8:00 a.m., the administration at Decatur High School was made aware of a student's report of a gun on the bus. When the bus arrived at the high school, CSD security personnel and DHS and BHMS administrators acted immediately, unloading all students for security screening while the report was investigated. At no time were students in immediate danger, as no weapon was found, and the report was determined to be a prank.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. All threats to our schools or students are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. This letter is to inform you of this incident and request your assistance. Parents are encouraged to speak with their child(ren) about the seriousness of this incident, the importance of making the right choices, and the potential consequences of their actions. Additionally, please reiterate that if they see or hear something, they should immediately report it to a trusted adult or school administrator.
