September isalmost here! August 28, 2026

Great week!

Our students are doing amazing! I am so proud of how hard they are working on our benchmark assessments! Mrs. Johnson and I have visited classrooms and we are seeing awesome work by the students and the teachers! I would also like to thank everyone who came to Open House! It was a great evening for parents to see their student's classrooms and visit with their child's teacher.

September is right around the corner! We know that the fall is busy and then we blink and the holidays will be here. Watching how much our students grow from the beginning of the year to the middle of the year is always so much fun! They are off to a fantastic start!

Lost and Found

We already have a few items in the lost and found. Please label your student's sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, backpacks, and lunchboxes. We make every attempt to get items back to students but this is only possible if items are labeled with their name. Please help us with this and we will help get things back! Also, please check the lost and found from time to time and remind your students to look there if they are missing any items.

Clubs at Verner

We are super excited to start clubs on September 25! If you would like to volunteer please reach out to myself, Kathryn Adkins, or Alexis Thompson. We still need volunteers and substitutes.

Another way you can help us is would be to NOT check your child out during clubs. Clubs are one Friday afternoon a month. Clubs start at 1:40 and end at 2:20. We ask that on these days that you do not check students out during this time. The students love their clubs and we don't want them to miss if possible.

Please take a moment to read all of this info!

Thank you for your help with the following:

DO NOT stop or get out of your car in the carpool line in the morning or afternoon! I know we have several students who are not able to buckle themselves. If you student is not able to buckle you may pull around ALL THE WAY to the parking lot and park for them to buckle or you may park and wait until carpool ends to walk up and get your student.

If your student is not out front for carpool in the afternoon we will call them to carpool. Sometimes they just don't see their names and it takes a few extra minutes. We will ask you to pull to the parking lot. Please do not pull to the front of the carpool line. Pull all the way to the parking lot. We will make sure an adult brings your student to the parking lot if they don't make it our for carpool in the afternoon. We DO NOT need a bottle neck in carpool.

When you come to carpool for morning and afternoon PULL ALL THE WAY DOWN, do not leave any space. For afternoon pick up, the kids know where they should be going. If you pull all the way down in the afternoon it help us load student quicker. In the morning please pull all the way down so that we are able to unload more students each morning.

Carpool is a CELL PHONE FREE zone! Do not be in carpool distracted. Please put your cellphone away while in carpool. I need you all to pay attention so that carpool will run smoothly.

Make sure your car tag is displayed on your review mirror.

If your student is a walker please remember they must be leaving campus. Students are NOT allowed to be picked up in the parking lot. Also, please do not drop students off in the parking lot in the morning. I am seeing this in the morning and afternoon.

If you would like to walk up in the afternoon to pick up your student we will call them at the END of carpool. Please do not walk up while carpool is going on to ask for your student. Once carpool ends we will call up all remaining carpool students. Carpool is the quickest way to pick up your student. We have been finished with carpool this week by 3:05 which is exactly what we would want since we are starting car rider line five minutes later this year.

All students must be picked up by 3:05 p.m. If your student is still at the school at 3:10 we will send them to extended day and you will be charged for extended day including the registration fee if you haven't registered your student. All teachers are off duty at 3:10 and students will not be supervised unless they go to extended day.

If you walk your student up to the door each morning please do not come inside the building. Drop them off at the front door. If they need help getting inside we will help them get to class. Do not stop in the front door. It really is easier to drop students off in carpool. For the most part our kiddos are doing great going to class. Even those who have had tears normally are totally fine as soon as they get to class. Sometimes having parents drop off makes things a little harder.

Please do not come for lunch until the Wednesday after Labor Day. 9/9/26

We are having a lot of parents bring water bottles, backpacks, lunchboxes, and snacks to school each day. This interrupts class. Make sure your students have everything they need each morning. I have given everyone two weeks to get in a routine. We will not interrupt class to give students these items. I know things come up but we are having to get things to students all day, every day!

No check outs after 2:15 AND we will not change transportation after 2:15.

School starts at 7:55! This means students need to be in their classrooms at 7:55!

I know we are all figuring things out together! These are just a few things that I want to make sure we address before we get too far into the school year! We want to make sure all of our students are SAFE and that everyone is following our protocols!

Everyone must sign in at the school

We love having parents and family members at the school and will love having you for lunch after Labor Day! For anything we have at the school you will need to sign in. We are piloting a new program called Passport this year to help with sign in. This system allows you to sign in before you get to the school and then all you need to do is scan your code instead of having to do the full sign in at the front desk. Everyone must sign in if you are going into the school. If you are going through the office or glass doors for any reason you much sign in, this includes going to see Nurse Brittany. This process makes it much easier and faster! We have two sign in kiosk to help expedite things as well. I recommend if your child has someone coming for grandparent's day you should send them this QR code so they can go ahead and get this set up before they come on September 17. They will then only need to push their app and scan their code for their badge. Once you get the app you will need to take a picture of your license. You will only need to do this once. After you complete these steps the first time you will only need to click on the app for all additional school visits.
