MTSS Lead Weekly Updates
Week of 12/2/24
🗓 Coming Up!
December Professional Learning Opportunities
December is a short month but there are still professional learning opportunities that you should share with others such as the iReady Digital Literacy Tasks or the Progress Monitoring, while others may be best suited for you as the Lead. Don't forget that you can submit a request for MSCS Office Hours and I will meet with you individually or in small groups based on topics.
Fidelity Checks
TDOE RTI2A Manual Guidance
As seen on page 19 of the TDOE Response to Instruction and Intervention Manual, fidelity checks are necessary to monitor instruction at each tier. These are done by school leadership teams or district supervisors. When considering Tier II and Tier III fidelity checks, there should be both direct and indirect checks. The chart on page 20 outlines what these look like and the frequency by which they occur. MTSS Leads should work with their school principal to ensure that there are fidelity checks for Tier II and Tier III instruction occurring and documented in TNPulse (guidance is found in the RTI tab in the Resource Library on the TNPulse homepage). Where intervention is not implemented with at least 80 percent or greater fidelity, the intervention provider should be supported with training until fidelity reaches 80 percent.
While it is not required to use this fidelity checklist form, it is able to be used at the discretion of school leadership and contains all information that should be gathered during a direct fidelity check.
MTSS Lead Bright Spots
Geeter K-8
During ongoing MSCS Office Hours combined with monthly district professional learning options, Amber Parr (interventionist and MTSS Lead for Geeter K-8) has demonstrated consistency and commitment to learning the various platforms and ensuring that her actions will yield the best results for the teachers and students at Geeter K-8. Recently she inquired about ILP-D plans for a few students and during that discussion I learned that she took the information from those plans and shared it with the Tier 1 teachers. Great step in connecting intervention back to Tier 1! But she also provided the Tier 1 teachers with examples of what she was doing in intervention small group instruction. This is one of the strategies encouraged by TDOE in helping connect the dots back to Tier 1 instruction. Keep up the great work!
Mt. Pisgah
Network Leader Debra Stanford shared during the November Data Team Meeting at Mt. Pisgah that the team did a great job of discussing each student's progress etc. Of particular note was how a few students who were at or below the 25th percentile on the iReady fall Diagnostic have moved within their Personalized Instruction My Path from iReady Pro lessons to regular lessons. Great job in moving students by engaging them in the personalized instruction and closing learning gaps!
💡 Reminders
1. Tickets and/or Inquiries via Email
Please include student identification numbers and the first and last name of the teacher when submitting tickets and/or inquiries via email. This ensures that I have the correct student and teacher when looking into the matter.
2. TNPulse
TNPulse Tier 2 and 3 plans are developed on the student's instructional level and should match the instructional level progress monitoring schedule in Pearson aimswebPlus. When these do not match, it will trigger "out of compliance" messages in PowerBi. Remember if you are not able to create student a student plan in TNPulse you must be tracking this information on paper. Please note on the CSRS if you are having to track a student plan on paper as caused by the active tickets with PCG. (new ask for December)
3. Submit your Winter Testing Schedule
Please submit your Winter Testing Schedule for the dates of January 8-31 in your school folder by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9th. Your principal should review and approve this. If you have grades 3-4, these students will need to test iReady Reading FIRST so that their literacy data is available to meet the deadlines of the Literacy Commitment Meetings. The schedules will be shared with Network Leaders as they will assist in monitoring in January. Consider iReady Diagnostic for Reading and Math as well as Written Expression along with screening for Characteristics of Dyslexia.
All students K-8 and only those 9-12 students enrolled in intervention courses will need to complete the winter iReady Diagnostic for both Reading and Math. This provides growth data from fall to winter and resets the personalized instruction my path based on scores. Student data for grades K-6 is also reported to TDOE as part of the universal screening process.
