November Parent Events
General Parent Support Group - Thursday, November 10th
Family Education Night: Wednesday, November 16th
We will have the following sessions from 6:00 -7:30pm at Reed Elementary School:
AAC Family Chat: If you use your child's talker, they will learn how to use their talker! Come join us for some fun interactive activities to help you feel more comfortable with your child's AAC device. Later, you can try the activities at home with your child! The more fun your child has with their AAC device, the more motivating communication will be! Please bring your child's device if you are able. We will have spare devices for anyone curious or unable to bring one.
SELF 18+: Transition services provide young adults, 18 to 22 years old, with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful transition into community and adult living. Transition services are provided in a community setting and are based on each student’s individual strengths, interests, preferences, and needs.
Structures, Routines & Schedules: This training will be focusing on implementing routines and maintaining structure at home with tips for extended breaks, and holidays.
School's Out!: As we prepare for fall and winter break, we will be discussing different ways to keep your students engaged during the breaks. There will also be an opportunity for you to share your own engagement ideas with other parents.
Thanks to assistance from our TEA Autism Grant we will be providing free childcare for up to 20 children. The childcare attendants can care for children 5th grade and under. You must register your child for childcare. Childcare Reservations will close Friday, November 11th or sooner if slots are filled. If your child is 6th grade and older, they are encouraged to learn alongside you during the Family Education Night.
