A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy, Bronco Family! It has been so great to hear the sounds of teaching and learning in the classrooms these past few weeks. The students are working hard and making good choices every day. Many exciting things both in and out of the classroom are gearing up, and I expect a fun and busy year.
We are setting many goals both academically and personally this year. To accomplish the goals we are setting, it is imperative that every student is at school every day. If a student misses just one day a week, they are missing out on 25% of instruction and learning that week. We understand that children may be sick from time to time, but if they are not contagious, not running a fever, not throwing up, or not having bathroom issues, we encourage them to be at school. Every day counts towards their success at Meadow ISD.
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!
Mrs. B
¡Hola, familia Bronco!

MRS. McCORMICK - 3RD GRADE
3rd Grade ELAR
Students are working hard adjusting to the rigor of 3rd grade. So far, we have focused as much on paying attention and following directions as we have on getting answers correct, and I am seeing some progress! Please make sure your child studies their spelling words with an adult every evening. Students must know word meanings and correct usage as well as memorizing how to spell a word.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Fiona McCormick

BEST- SMARTEST - EAGER - LEARN - KIND - HARDWORKING
These are just a few words I have heard other teachers and staff use to describe the amazing 4th Grade students! Every one of them is true. Their efforts have earned them an exciting surprise from the Cafeteria. You will hear more about that in September. The students have been taking many diagnostic assessments to determine what they remember after a summer of fun. It is not something they love to do, but it does give us a good idea of how we should target individual instruction. I am proud of their effort in completing those! In Social Studies we have begun our study of Texas History by focusing on the 5 Fundamental Principals of Geography: Regions, Human-Environment, Location, Place, and Movement.
4th & 5th Grade ELAR
We have been focusing on The Writing Process. The students filled out an All About Me Poster. Then they presented their poster to the class. All students took notes during the presentations. Afterwards, they drew a name and had to interview the other student to make sure the information in their notes was correct. After the interview, the students wrote sentences or phrases on Post-It notes about each one of the main points. The students then organized their Post-It notes in the order they wanted the sentences to appear in their paragraph. Once organized, the students used the Post-It Notes to write a rough draft. Then, with some revising and editing, it was time to publish their paragraph by typing it on the computer.
Next week we will start AR. The students will be required to read at home each day. They will be keeping a reading log that parents will need to sign each night. Students will be required to make a 70 on the AR tests. If not, they will have to read the book again and test again. Students will have a target goal each 9 nine weeks. Reading at home is vital to the student's success. I thank you in advance for your support and encouragement.
MS. GAMEZ -5TH GRADE
4th & 5th Grade Math
-In 4th grade math, we are learning Place Value and slowly working towards decimals. The 4th graders have been amazing. They are happy learners, and it always makes it fun to come to class.
-In 5th grade, we started working on adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers because we needed to review before going into multiplying a 3-digit number by a 2-digit number and working on long division. We have started multiplying using area models and standard algorithm. The many steps in the process makes it difficult, but we will get through it.
-Please practice multiplication math facts a couple of minutes each night. It is important to be able to multiply multi-digit numbers and working long division problems.
Thank you for your support.
