PARKING LOT REMINDERS PARKING LOT REMINDERS

Thank you for helping us keep our parking lot safe and running smoothly for everyone. A quick reminder to always use the designated crosswalks when walking through the lot, as this helps model safe habits for our students and keeps everyone safe. We also kindly ask that families avoid holding parking spaces by standing in them. In addition, please remember that the only spaces available for parent parking are the visitor spots or handicap spaces (with a placard); staff spaces are reserved for our teachers and support team. Your cooperation makes arrival and dismissal a safer and more positive experience for all.

Dear Families,

This week, our school is focusing on the character strength of Teamwork. Teamwork means working well with others as part of a group. It involves being loyal, reliable, and dedicated to helping your team reach its goals.

People who are strong in teamwork desire to help all group members succeed, committing time and resources to the group's shared goals. Sometimes, this means setting aside personal achievements to ensure the team does well as a whole. By doing this, they create positive feelings and help form a strong bond among group members.

Being a good teammate benefits everyone. When students work together, they feel proud of being part of something bigger than themselves.

To practice and encourage the character strength of teamwork at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Based on feedback from families and staff, the district is working on improvements to make the volunteer process more efficient and user-friendly.

While our new system is being finalized, we are still welcoming volunteers. For now, anyone interested in helping on campus can do so as a visitor until our updated process launches, tentatively scheduled for mid-September.

We encourage you to take this time to complete your TB assessment so you’ll be ready when the updated system is in place. We will share more details as we get closer to launch. You can learn more about this process by visiting the District website.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Our volunteers truly make a difference in the lives of our students.

APPLICATION FOR FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE MEALS APPLICATION FOR FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE MEALS

Under California’s Universal Meals Program, all PUSD students continue to receive school breakfast and lunch meals at no cost. The Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals, however, is still very important for meal reimbursement purposes and for LCFF funding. Because income eligibility guidelines change annually, families must reapply every year. Please encourage households to apply online at MySchoolApps.com, or to complete a paper application. Students that meet income criteria for free or reduced-price meal eligibility may qualify for additional benefits, such as discounts on after-school care, AP testing fees, transportation, home internet, and some utilities. Families with questions about the meal application should call PUSD Food and Nutrition at 858-668-2570.
