Welcome to fall WSD3!

This is always such an exciting time of year in our schools. As we move deeper into the first semester, our students are showing off their incredible talents across the board. Whether it's on the field and court or in the classroom and makerspaces, I encourage everyone in our community to come out, cheer them on, and support our fantastic students!

October is also an important month for connecting on student progress. For our elementary families, mark your calendars: Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for October 29th and 30th. This is a wonderful opportunity to partner with our staff and look at how your child is growing.

A big part of that success comes down to one simple thing: being in class every single day. We know life gets busy, and unexpected things come up—we completely understand. But every day of instruction matters, not just for academics, but for building strong relationships with teachers and classmates.

If you ever face challenges getting your child to school, please reach out to your school’s staff. We are in this together, and we’re here to help.

Sincerely,

Steffanie Howell

Bulldogs Celebrate 70 Years Bulldogs Celebrate 70 Years

Widefield Elementary School of the Arts celebrated 70 years! The halls were filled with over 450 attendees, including former students, teachers, custodians, principals, current families, and families with multiple generations of Bulldogs. It was wonderful to reconnect, reminisce, share stories, and celebrate the people and memories that have made WESA such a special place for seven decades.

WESA also named a new mural that students worked on last spring with Artist Tony Ortega. Guests were asked to vote from three names that students came up with. The winning name is: Rhythm and Roots. To watch the progression of the mural, click here. WESA Mural Progression Video. Thank you to all who joined in celebrating! Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!

We use a Weather Dial to track our inclement weather day usage. As you can see, we start with traditional snow days which means no school for students and no work for staff members.

There are seven days this year that we can use as snow days before we have to consider other options to make up time. We will update the dial each time a day is used and post it on our website under School Delays and Closures.

Be sure to have your contact information updated in Infinite Campus to receive alerts.
