⏰Early Pick up
Dear Families,
To help ensure a safe and smooth dismissal for all students, we are implementing a new dismissal procedure effective February 2nd, 2026.
After 3:00 PM, students will only be released for early pick-up if the office has been notified by 12:00 PM the same day.
This change is necessary to:
Reduce congestion in the main office at the end of the day.
Maximize student instructional time.
Allow staff to focus on dismissal supervision.
Maintain a safe, orderly environment for students and families during our end of the day processes.
We understand that unexpected situations can arise, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work together to keep dismissal safe and efficient for everyone.
If you know ahead of time that your child will need to be picked up early, please be sure to contact the office before 12:00 PM.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
In Memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we remember Dr. King and his message of kindness, fairness, and helping others. At school, we talk with students about treating everyone with respect, using our voices for good, and making our community a better place—just as Dr. King encouraged.
We hope you enjoy this day with your family as a time to learn, reflect, and spread kindness.
Thank you to our School Board!!!!
To our Members of the Board of Education:
During National School Board Appreciation Month, Kinloch would like to take a moment to say thank you for all that you do.
Your dedication to our students, staff, and families is deeply appreciated. The time, care, and thoughtful decision-making you bring to your role help shape the experiences of our children every single day. We recognize that serving on the school board requires significant commitment, collaboration, and a genuine passion for education, and we are grateful for the leadership you provide.
Thank you for being strong advocates for education and for partnering with our schools to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. We are thankful for your service and support of our school community.
With sincere appreciation,
The Kinloch School Community
Safety Concerns
Just a few reminders regarding the parking lot---
• Do not park on Kinloch Street during dismissal. This is creating a blockage with two lanes of cars in the middle of the street.
We are noticing an increase in cars stopping or parking along the street during this time, and it is creating a serious safety concern for our students and staff. When cars are parked along Kinloch Street, visibility becomes limited, students have a harder time crossing safely, and traffic flow is disrupted.
• There are NO LEFT TURNS allowed when exiting our parking lot.
All vehicles must make a right turn to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.
• Do not bypass other cars waiting in line on Timber Trail.
Passing cars in line places you in the oncoming traffic lane and creates a significant safety hazard.
• Children may not be dropped off on Timber Trail or on Kinloch Street.
All student drop-offs must occur in the designated areas to ensure safety.
For the safety of all children, we ask that families use the designated pick-up areas and follow the established arrival and dismissal procedures. Your cooperation helps us maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient environment for everyone. Thank you for your continued partnership and attention to these important safety expectations.
Thank you for your attention to this important safety matter and for supporting a smooth dismissal process.
Report Cards
This is just a reminder that Report cards are available in the Parent Connect Portal. To access, please open the app, or website, click on “Standards/Marks”, and scroll down to see Quarter 2 grades. There is a heading that says “Report Card” that you will need to click on to access the Report Card. The website is https://www.csdmi.org/ and it is the fourth icon at the bottom of the screen labeled “Student/Parent Connect”
If you do not have access to the Parent Portal app- please contact our office to request a PIN/Password so you are able to log in.
From the Desk of Nurse Maddy:
Stay Healthy This Cold & Flu Season!
Cold and flu season is here, and we want to keep our students feeling their best! Please help us by keeping your child home if they are not feeling well, especially if they have a fever, cough, sore throat, or upset stomach. Children should be fever-free for at least 24 hours (without medicine) before coming back to school. Thank you for helping us keep our classrooms happy, healthy, and full of learning this season!
Kindergarten Registration 🍎🏫
Please keep toys at home
We recognize that, on occasion, an early pick-up may be necessary. However, we have been experiencing a significant increase in parents arriving within the final minutes of the school day. This creates congestion in the main office and presents safety concerns due to the number of individuals waiting for students inside the building.
Unless there is an urgent or unavoidable situation, we respectfully request that families wait until the designated dismissal time to pick up their children outside. Adhering to this procedure helps us maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient dismissal for all students.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Creating a kind and respectful community 💙
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing effort to build a kind, respectful, and inclusive community, we encourage you to take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of treating everyone with understanding and acceptance.
Please remind them that our differences—whether in background, appearance, ability, or beliefs—make our community stronger and more vibrant. A kind word, a welcoming gesture, and a respectful attitude can go a long way in helping everyone feel valued and supported.
Thank you for partnering with us in nurturing empathy, respect, and inclusion in all that we do.
Car Line Reminder!
AFor everyone’s safety and to help arrival run smoothly, please remain in the designated car line at all times. The inner lane should only be used if you are parking your vehicle.
** During dismissal, please do not park along the side of Kinloch, as this creates unsafe conditions for students and families. Your cooperation helps keep everyone in the safest possible environment.
A few tips to make arrival quicker and smoother:
-
Please make sure you’ve said your goodbyes before reaching the drop-off area.
-
Have your child ready with their backpack when a staff member or safety opens the door.
-
For everyone’s safety, please refrain from using your phone while in the car line so we can all stay alert and move up safely when it’s time.
Thank you for your patience and continued support in keeping our students safe!

Birthday Treats/ Celebrations 🎂🎉🎈
If you are planning on your child celebrating their birthday in class, we kindly ask that you choose one special treat to provide for your child on their special day. We encourage you to keep treats small and easy to share or enjoy individually. Please remember that classroom celebrations are meant to focus on recognizing our students and creating joyful memories together. Keep in mind that this is a nut-free school, so do not send in nuts of any kind.
I-Chat
Please ensure your I-Chat is completed yearly and up to date with our office. It does take a few days to process so keep that in mind when planning ahead for volunteering opportunities!
