Hello May Howard Families!

We have gotten off to a great start at May Howard Elementary this year. I hope that everyone is settling into their routines and enjoying school as much as we are! This week our students will be taking their beginning of the year MAP assessments. These assessments cover reading and math. They are adaptive assessments that adjust to the students responses and help our teachers understand what concepts students have already mastered and where they need to start working with them. Please encourage your student to do his or her best, but not over stress about MAP.

A few notes:

  • We have fall pictures this Thursday.
  • Last week we did cancel outdoor recess Thursday and Friday due to the extreme heat advisory. We monitor outdoor conditions and if they are unfavorable for outdoor activities, we will have to revert to indoor recess.
  • We feel like dismissal went smoothly last week and we will continue to operate the same way this week. If you have a walker, we are releasing those students at 3:50 each day.

With MAP assessments and pictures this week, please do your best to have your child at school everyday. If you are planning any upcoming trips, please make sure to look at the School Break Planner below for the best times to do so. We truly appreciate all of your support at May Howard. If you ever have questions, concerns, or comments, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Dr. Ken Deal, Principal

Ms. Cassie Clark, Assistant Principal
