Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conference are set for Thursday, October 11. They will take place between 1:00-4:00 and then 6:00-8:00. Here is the link to sign up with staff. Please remember that Thursday is a 1/2 day for students with a noon dismissal. BASE is open on Thursday. Students must have a lunch if they are attending BASE. There is not school on Friday, October 12 for students.
We have the best staff at NBES! Please look for the Staff Appreciation Station in the gym commons area. There will be a place where you can write your appreciation to our staff members.
Pep Assembly
All NBES students will be traveling over to the high school for the Homecoming Pep Assembly on Thursday at 10:00.
Picture Retakes
Tuesday, October 17th will be picture retake day. If your child was not here on picture day, Lifetouch will be taking their photo that day.
If you received your student's pictures from picture day and you are not happy with them, your student can have their pictures retaken today. They will need to have their original pictures in the package with them for the retakes. They will also need to either be able to explain to the photographer what you/they did not like about the photos so we can avoid the same issue with the retakes OR bring a note from home describing what you/they didn't like about their photo to give to the photographer.
Background Checks
Volunteer background checks are required to be completed for field trips, class parties, or any volunteer time in a classroom. Our Halloween party is set to take place on Friday, October 25. If you have not already done so, please go to this link and complete this at least 1 week prior to any of these events. If you have already completed this last year you will not need to do this again. You may email Devinnie Wysocki at the central office and she will update your background check. Her email address is dwysocki@nbas.org. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Bullying Prevention Month
Please join us next week for our Bullying Prevention Dress-Up Days! Mrs. Haskins will be teaching students about bullying in her weekly classes with our students.
Michigan Apple Crunch @ New Buffalo Area Schools
It’s Michigan Apple Crunch time at New Buffalo Area Schools.
We are joining other schools, early care centers, colleges, hospitals, and other organizations across Michigan in the annual Michigan Apple Crunch. Participants celebrate National Farm to School Month and local farmers by crunching into
MICHIGAN apples!
All students and staff will have the opportunity to crunch a MICHIGAN apple on Thursday, October 17th. Apples will be available at school during breakfast. We encourage all staff and students to start their day with a CRUNCH!
We encourage students and staff to wear the color of their favorite apple on October 17th.
This collective crunch encourages healthy eating and supports farm to school and local food initiatives throughout the state. Michigan is the nation’s second largest producer of apples. There are more than 14.9 million apple trees covering 34,500 acres on 775 family-run farms in Michigan. With Michigan’s climate, proximity to lakes and nutrient-rich soil, growers discovered Michigan was the ideal place to grow quality, fruitful apples. (Source: Michiganapples.com)
