Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Dear Underhill Parents/Guardians,
Wow! I can't believe the first day of school is over. It was certainly a fun and exciting day for everyone! Please know that arrival and dismissal usually takes a little bit longer on the first few days due to increased traffic and families getting back into a routine. It will improve within the next few days.
For families that use Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up, please follow the following guidance from School Resource Officer Carleton.
School Zone Driving Safety
Please be mindful of your speed when driving through school zones. These areas are clearly marked, and speed limits are reduced for a reason — our children’s safety. Always stay alert for stopped school buses. School buses leaving and entering the school should never be passed in your vehicle. Avoid distracted driving, and never use your phone while driving.Child Passenger Safety
Make sure all children are properly secured in their seats while your vehicle is in motion — even for short trips. This includes dropping off your children at school. Make sure you are using the correct car seat or booster seat for their age, height, and weight, and ensuring older children are buckled up at all times.
Also, while waiting in the Pick-Up/Drop-Off line, you need to stay with your vehicle at all times. It is important to keep your music volume down. Students are still engaged in learning activities in the afternoon.
For families using the School Bus, please plan ahead. A good rule of thumb is to be at the bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled stop and wait 10 minutes after the scheduled stop before calling the school. School bus stop times are estimates and they don't take into account traffic and road conditions. If there are any major delays or changes, we will reach out to families through the Bright Arrow messaging system.
