We began our Dynamite Diners grade level challenges in our dining room this past Wednesday. Students were excited to accept the challenge of being the grade level to show the most 3R's during the month of March! Below is the "menu reward options" grade levels are working towards receiving if they come out on top at the end of the month!

We had a successful ALICE drill this week. Thank you to all our Byam staff for helping our students during these practice classroom sessions.

Thank you to our BSA for sponsoring a visit from a historical character and famous aviator, Amelia Earhart. Performer Sheryl Faye presents Historical Women and brought to life this amazing American for our 2nd graders!

Kindergarten classes celebrated Dr. Seuss' Birthday with Read Across America Day. The day was established by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998 to inspire students to get kids excited about reading. The day occurs each year during the birthday week of children’s book author Dr. Seuss

International Social Emotional Learning Day

Friday, March 10th

This year Byam is honoring the importance of social and emotional learning by joining the worldwide celebration of Social Emotional Learning Day on Friday March 10, 2023. To build upon the SEL work that our Byam staff provides to students all year, students will be promoting kindness and empathy throughout our Byam community.

On Monday March 13th all kindergarten through fourth grade students will be attending an assembly to hear Boston based artist Bren Bataclan inspire our Byam community on the power of kindness. Bren takes students on a journey around the globe, demonstrating how a smile is universally understood and appreciated. During the drawing demo, Bren explains how easy it is to draw his characters and that there is no right or wrong way to illustrate them. Bren will then be at Byam all week long working on a Byam student inspired canvas mural for our school. Students will have the opportunity to see the finished product Friday March 17th.

We are humbly asking parents to consider volunteering for one small task each year. If your child is attending an event, please keep an eye out for future sign-up forms. Many responsible students can also help with parent supervision! In addition to event volunteers, here are a few larger roles we are looking to fill. We will teach you the ropes and "ease" you in.
