Week 6 News

Viking families,

It's already October and that means that we have a new Viking character trait of the month. This month's character trait is Responsibility. We will be focusing all month long on students taking ownership of both their things and their choices. We've modeled how students can be responsible in all areas of the building by taking good care of school-issued devices and books, putting their things away and cleaning up after themselves. We've also talked a lot about owning our decisions when we make mistakes. We want students to own their part, make it right and then move forward making wiser choices. Please help us reinforce these characteristics at home with your students as well!

Please take a look at the information below regarding this week's happenings.

This week at a glance:

Monday, October 2nd: PTO Read a Thon continues, Pajama Day

Tuesday, October 3rd: Hat Day

Wednesday, October 4th: Color Wars Day, Fall Count Day

Thursday, October 5th: Sports Team/Jersey Day, Head Start hearing and vision screenings

Friday, October 6th: Viking Spirit Day

This week let's ROW Like Vikings: Respect, Ownership & Wise Choices

Have a great week! Go Vikings!

PBIS News

PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports. Our staff is trained to look for opportunities to celebrate the positive things that students do each day. We teach students what the expectations are for every area of the building so that they enter a safe and predictable environment. We expect our students to ROW Like Vikings no matter where they are at DES. ROW stands for Respect, Ownership and Wise Choices. Students will earn ROW tickets when they are caught showing these positive behaviors and their tickets can earn them fun incentives throughout the school year.

Congratulations to this week's ROW Ticket Classroom Winners! (Pictured above)

Friday was our end of the month PBIS ROW Ticket Celebration. Students were able to pie the principals! (Pictured below)

Our Character Trait of the Month is Responsibility. Help us reinforce this trait at home this month!

Stay Connected!

If you are not already receiving phone, text and/or email alerts, please contact our DES office to be sure we have your correct contact information listed within our system. These alerts can be for regular weekly communication, but can also be for building or district emergencies or updates.

If you are on social media, please consider following our Dundee Elementary Facebook Page. Photos, updates and weekly newsletters are posted there.

Lastly, if you haven't already connected with your student's teacher on Bloomz, please consider doing so. Bloomz is the main form of communication that teachers use to interact with families. If you aren't sure how to get connected, please contact your student's teacher or the office and we'd be happy to help!

Handle With Care

Handle with Care is a system in which our staff can be aware that your child or family may be experiencing a hardship outside of school that may impact their day at school. By notifying the school principal, we can be sure that those who come in contact with your child throughout the day handles them with extra understanding and TLC. You do not have to provide us with any details at all unless you wish to do so. You can simply send an email that states: Handle with Care with your child's name. Information can be sent to Mrs. Love or Mr. Briggs on Bloomz or via school email at Shana.love@dundeeschools.org or jaybriggs@dundeeschools.org.
