Washington Wonders

Washington Writers' Academy kindergarteners took their Wonders ELA story outside and explored using their sense of touch. The outdoor activity was inspired by the story "Senses at the Seashore." Fun was had by all, said Principal Lanisha Hannah.

MESSA Reports HealthEquity Plan Disruptions

MESSA has been notified of a service disruption at HealthEquity that may affect MESSA members who have a MESSA ABC or Balance+ health plan with a health savings account.

The following information is from HealthEquity:

A small percentage of HealthEquity members are experiencing service disruptions, including disabled mobile access and blocked banking transactions to guard against potential threats.

Through routine monitoring, HealthEquity detected a high-volume of attempts to access accounts through credential stuffing which is the automated injection of publicly available usernames and passwords into website login forms.

  • The usernames and passwords were not obtained from the HealthEquity incident reported in June this year – no login credentials were disclosed in that event.
  • HealthEquity systems have not been compromised. If perpetrators gain access to accounts, they use credentials obtained from other sources.
  • The threat actors are targeting multiple institutions. The attack is not specific to HealthEquity.

HealthEquity systems have not been compromised.

We will provide individuals with instructions for re-activating accounts after our analysis is complete. If any funds have been accessed inappropriately, these transactions will be reversed as part of the resolution process.

As a reminder, members should update their credentials with unique and strong passwords. They should never use the same credentials for more than one online relationship — especially relationships with financial impacts. They should consider using a password management application to secure and organize passwords.

If you have questions, please contact HealthEquity at (866) 346-5800.
