๐ Fall into Dealey ๐
Quote of the Week
"Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits." โ Samuel Butler
This week, we are thankful to witness another season change together as a community. Autumn in a Montessori school is a season of hands-on exploration and discovery. Students observe natureโs transformation through leaf walks, collecting acorns and pinecones for the classroom nature table, and studying the vibrant colors of fall.
Practical life takes on a seasonal twist with apple peeling, pumpkin preparation, and cooking activities that bring the harvest into the classroom. ๐ In fact, Mrs. Elser-Smithโs classroom celebrated Johnny Appleseed by making homemade applesauce, filling the halls with the delicious smell of fall! These fruit-filled lessons remind us of the richness and sweetness that autumn brings.
In art, children experiment with leaf rubbings, collages, and fall-themed painting, while science lessons explore the pumpkin life cycle, seed saving, and seasonal plant changes.
Meanwhile, in the International Academy, our NJHS students led by Ms. Nguyen proudly represented Dealey in the Hillcrest parade. ๐ Their leadership and spirit were on full display, showing the community what it means to be a Dragon. Also in the Academy, our 8th graders in Algebra will be taking their Fall Common Assessment this weekโan important milestone in their academic journey. A heartfelt thank you to all of the parents for your support in making these events such a success!
Beyond academics, autumn reminds us to slow down, reflect, and embrace gratitude. As a community, we are harvesting the fruits of our collective workโnurturing curiosity, creativity, and compassion in every child. Together, we celebrate not just the season, but the beauty of growing and learning side by side.
With compassion and joy,
