A Message from Mrs. Hays A Message from Mrs. Hays

November Message:

Hello Parents and Families,

As the beautiful fall season deepens, and we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, our thoughts naturally turn toward one of the most important character traits we strive to instill in our students: gratitude.

November offers a perfect moment to pause and reflect on the many blessings in our lives, and to actively practice being thankful. Throughout this month, we will be focusing on this core value in our classrooms through stories, discussions, and special activities designed to help students understand that being thankful goes beyond simply saying "thank you"—it’s about noticing, appreciating, and acting on that appreciation.

November Upcoming Events:

November 10th: PTO Meeting 3:45-4:15pm

November 11th: Individual Picture Retakes

November 11th: Veterans Day 8am-8:20am (under the awning in front of the school)

November 13th: 3rd Grade Music Program 6pm in Cherry Cafe

November 20th: Title 3 Night 5:00-5:30pm in Cherry Cafe (meeting)

November 20th: Fall Festival 5:30-6:30pm (all campus and families, teachers are running games)

Calling ALL Ruth Cherry Dads!

We are so excited about another year of All Pro Dad Breakfasts for our students and Dads! We know that sometimes our Dads can't make it, so we also welcome Granddads, Uncles, Adult Siblings, Adult Cousins, and Moms!

Don’t miss out on opportunities to support our students, teachers and school.

Our All Pro Dad breakfasts will be Wednesday mornings again this year. We open the doors at 6:50 am for each APD breakfast and meet upstairs in "The Nest" (Room D206-D207)! We have donuts and water or students and Dads. We give Dads and students a chance to talk with each other and each month there is a character attribute video and discussion. We also have prizes!!!

See our bell schedule below:

7:00 - 7:30am Students are allowed to be dropped off, come in the building, and breakfast is served during this time.

7:25am School begins

7:30am Tardy bell rings

3:05pm Dismissal bell rings

If students arrive between 7:00-7:30 and they want to eat breakfast, they will go to the cafeteria.

Students who arrive prior to 7:20am and want to attend a club, they will go to the club table and pick a club for the morning.

All students will wait for the bell to ring in the cafe if they are not in a morning club.

Students who arrive at 7:30 will go straight to class. Students who arrive after 7:30 will check in with the front office to get a tardy slip before going to class.

Dismissal: Please let your classroom teachers know how your child will be getting home from school. We will have bus riders, daycare students, car riders and walkers. Please download the app: https://www.pikmykid.com/ All students will be given a car tag number for times that they will be a car rider.

Walkers: Students walking must be independent walkers. Teachers will help walk students out of the building and get them across the street at the crosswalk. If parents are meeting your child to walk home with them please meet us at the cross walk to walk with your child. You will NOT need to walk up to the front door. We have two zones for student walkers. Please clarify which group your child should be walking with to the classroom teacher.

Student ID Badges Student ID Badges

Cherry Families,

This year, every student is being issued an ID badge that features your child’s photo (if they were here for picture day last year), their lunch barcode and a QR code that allows them to sign into Classlink. Students will be required to wear these every day at school, and if they ride the bus, to and from school as well.

Starting the second semester, students will be required to scan their IDs to get on the bus in the afternoon to ride the bus home. They will not be allowed to board the bus without their ID badge.

Help us by reminding your child to wear their ID every day, and to take proper care of it. There will be a $5 charge for replacement badges after the first replacement is issued. We are providing lanyards for students; however, if your student would like to bring a special lanyard to help them keep up with their ID, those are welcome as long as they are school appropriate.

Thank you for your assistance with this. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you!
